Great !! Is`nt it great to take the dogs with you on rides? They are a part of the family and need both exercise and "to get out of the house" and have fun just like us. A dog that is used to go places is happy and easy to handle. There is so many dogs around here but you do not often see peopel taking theyr dogs on bikerides. I see them innside a small cage in a car and innside houses.

I am trying to get the Min Pin used to the bike... she will run alongside but isn't as good a passenger as her fluffy little sister.

This was the reason I got the baskets although they are also good for grocery runs... they have flip up carrying handles so are great for the farmer's market.

We rode the 7km to school to get my girls this afternoon and she was fine... she really loves kids so was pretty happy to have gone to school today.

Thinking about building one and was wondering how to center the BB of the rear frame to fit in the drops of the front frame. Washers and a bolt through the rear BB?

Hello! Build one if you can, great fun. What you ask has been described in several threads. Use the "search the forums" option on top of the page, read and study pix. Also read this thread from the start. If you do that and still want to ask (the same questions or different ones) I suggest you do that by starting a new thread. When you start building ask your questions and post your pix in that thread, and post the result also in this thread and any other thread you want. Easyest way to keep track on things. You may have noticed my missing lower idler... I replaced that with a top mounted chain guide which makes the bike a little smoother and a little quieter.

Will need to post a pic of that.

Looks better, more tidy. I got lazy w my last build and went IGH. Fiddeling with finding a good chainline can take some time.

Well heres what I did so far to the new ApocoCycle. it's made of all kinds of parts. this is just the base frame. when done them tires will proberly have to be removed and replaced with larger ones due to the weight it will be. frame is a Yokota with coulumbus tubes that I was gonna throw out. bike will also be a tow bike with a pair of forks with a hub that are moved down by a chain on a reel.

It will look messed!lol

Time to think about throwing the winter tyres on the long bike here... and winter here is pretty close to being apocalyptic at times.

Thats right. where I live to the winter can be a big pain, it also destroys bikes and really rusts them for some reason. these long bikes need weight on the back too. I can do burnouts on mine lol

It's very easy to make one of these. the rear triangle is not reshaped.

it's removed from them bikes called Y frame or full suspention department store bikes. I sometimes buy a new bike or used one just for the piece. you simple remove everything off the rear triangle but BB and rear shifter and brakes.

place the bike you wanna make longer's rear dropouts over the triangle's Bottom bracket. tighten it. in some cases use big washers depending on the type of frame.[why washers? so that the squar spindle dosn't bend the dropout and collapse bike when riding] then place a rear wheel on it. lift the bike till the peddle arm is the right hight from ground.

cut a bar or pair of handle bars to fit into where rear shock was to where the kickstand would go on the front half. bolt/ or weld and you have a basic frame.

then exctend all wires and add what you want.[ As you can see by my messed ApocoCycle, the first one anything can be bolted to a bike. lol]

We're both Canuckistani so should have a good understanding of winter and riding through it.... I was using studded tyres today as the roads are a mess and will only get worse as the temperature drops tonight.

With the slicker Schwalbe Marathons I can spin out my back tyre pretty easily but my long bike rides better under load anyways so I always seem to be carrying a little extra gear in the way of tools, multiple locks, clothes, etc.

I have some 2.1 Panaracer XC Pro tires I am going to run as I discovered the long bike really didn't need studded tyres due to it's much greater level of stability on crappy roads.

Cause I am so proud of the build I have to post a pic... I built this bike up for my friend who is gonna winter ride this year and so far the bike has handled all this crap wonderfully.

I mounted a rear fender today to keep the slush and water off me and was really missing the full fenders on my long bike a great deal... I will take the long bike out tonight so I can stay drier and cleaner.

Anyways... my friend's new shorty. :lol:

I agree with the none studded. I also found a longbike handles great in winter but with a load like ya said. also thats the second Steve Baure i've seen. I also had one like that but red. I found it at the curb. if I actualy try I could proberly get close to 20 bikes a night from garbage picking. poor bikes. Even if it's junk it dosn't need to be recycled the wrong way! nice bike though I love the color

The Dogbike is curently parked. Got a flat two days ago and since I start mowing next weekend (not by bike) I`ll just leave it for now, no riding for some time.

I am thinking of building some 650B or simlar wheels for it this winter. Now it`s got 622-47 and hat is so big (in the rear triangle made for a 522 wheel) that the wheel needs to be totally perfect since there is only 1-2 mm space between the frame and tyre. Even when perfect any small piece of dirt or stones is scratching the fenders. With 650B wheels I can run chains on the wheels if I want.

I'm planning using a 26" mtn bike with 20" kids mtn bike at the back. Has anyone try this combo? How do you attach the bikes together at the BB? I saw all the pics in this board but still can't figure it out.

oh..my bad, I thought on an earlier post you said you'd cut it out in favor of something on the top side. Maybe I misunderstood.

I should be posting pics of my HBXC, but mine keeps getting knocked off the work stand in favor of this seemingly endless series of other fun bike builds that came up over the last few months.

mind if I ask why did you get rid of it?
too much noise? trying to cut weight? chainslap not as big of an issues as some think?

I use two Rear Derailers lol. as for the chain rubbing the frame up top I use a truely epic thing to prevent that. Ductape and a cut piece of bike tire. yet it actualy works great. I finally found a suspention bike with a rear triangle that has disc brake mount on it. I wish I found it before I built this one though... lol As you can see I have my anti drunk horns installed on my bike.

Reason for having a pair of anti drunk horns? I travel at night on a unlit bike path and lately I've ran into drunk people. I have very visable lighting. and can stop on a dime, but they run out of nowhere. so for protection I bring you Anti Drunk Horns V2!

Mine is currently resting in the garage waiting for me to patch a rear tube. The good news is I did a bit of bartering on the last bike I sold, and walked away with a xtracycle snap deck. Get to figure out how to mount that up soon.

I did about wreck on mine a few weeks back though. Was doing a fast pace down a downhill and narrowly recovered when the front tire tried to tweak itself sideways. Must save the going fast for the non-cargo bikes!
