D.I.Y'ers: Help me build a trailer hitch
So I plan on doing some touring soon with a cheap toddler trailer I found on craigslist, towed with my Long Haul Trucker. I'm not sure it's even compatible with my quick-release, but I don't want to risk messing up the wheel anyway.
So here is what I have to work with: http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v2...h/DSC00255.jpg http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v2...h/DSC00254.jpg What I have in mind is having some kind of separate hitch system connected to the chainstay and/or seatstay. Can anyone give me any advice on how I should go about this? Examples of similar set-ups for these kinds of hitches.... |
The hitch I used for my bamboo trailer:
bambootrailer.blogspot.com is working really well. The trick is to put a bolt inside the hose to keep it rigid. But I like it a lot. |
I use a U bolt with innertube lining to protect frame. Works on frame on seat post.

I have the same set up. I hooked it right up to the quick release and seems to work fine. I check it every couple of days to make sure it's tight. So far so good

I also have the same setup and connected it to the quick release. It has worked well with all kinds of loads.

Mike and Mr York, thanks for the common sense, I went ahead and attached the black hitch-piece to my quick release and it seems like it will work fine.
Glad I don't have ghetto-rig something up now. |
