will a trailer put stress on a frame?

Hi,
I've got an old track from that I really love and I'd like to tow my dog with me. He's pretty heavy (70-80 lbs) so it'll be a big load.

I'm just curious, would it be a better idea to get another bike for this? It's just the frame that I'm worried about. It's a lugged track frame. All my other parts are "new-school" stuff so I can replace all that if needed.

I just don't want my seat tube to explode or something.. haha.

If you get a trailer with a hitch that connects at the axle, it shouldn't put too much extra load on the frame... probably more on the wheels, though.

I do a fair amount of trailer towing with various bikes and haven't ever had a problem, but my bikes (except one) are steel and pretty bomber. YMMV.

Way less stress than your usual pedaling and pothole hitting will do.
