Rack for an older road bike

I have a Miyata 914 I've converted to a single speed and put some upright handlebars on to make it more comfortable for riding around town.
I'd like to add a rack to haul things but it doesn't have anything on the frame to mount it to I don't think.
I was looking at the Wald 520 or 535 (https://www.waldsports.com/index.cfm/...rcarriers.html) but am not sure if that would work. The wheels are bolt on, not quick release. Would that rack work on this bike? if not can anyone recommend one that would?

I'd also like to add some wider tires for more comfort. It currently has 700x23, what is the widest I can add? Does that depend upon the frame or the rims?

This rack will work fine.

Add a couple of "P" clips at the front to be able to fasten the rack to the bike. I've got all
older iron and this rack is the bomb.

If you convert the wheels to quick-release, you can use this: https://www.axiomgear.com/product/rac...uct.php?id=142

It mounts to the quick releases and the brake mount. You don't need any special rack mounts for it at all.

axiom racks are really only designed to hold axiom panniers though (i love them, i have the other version of the rack you linked and the kootenay panniers). The top of the rack is very narrow and not really designed to strap things to like tradition racks.

I have the 535 and find them very useful. I do have rear eyelets for mounting though. Good luck on your search, I find the Wald baskets to be a quality product.

So how is the basket mounted? On the axle and just to the frame near the seat post?

Attached to the seat stays and rear eyelets, not axle. The front basket is attached to the handlebars and the front axle.

I JUST discovered Wald products. They are made about an hour from my house. I also made a new friend that works there!
