Xtracycle Setup
Hello everybody! I currently have a surly 1x1 with a free radical attachment. (it is a 1x8 currently) I have been in the market for a long time for some new tires. This is my main commuter so I was looking for something with some low rolling resistance and good traction, because I live in flagstaff, AZ currently. I was debating between some 26'' cyclocross tires or the mavic hookworms that I see many people with. I was curious how is the rolling resistance with the wide 2.5 tires and would they have good traction in dirt (nothing technical, just dirt roads and hardpack trails). I also was debating between on one mary bars or the titec jeff jones bars. Any suggestions or alternatives would help. Thanks! Safe riding!

I might get ahold of Surly -- they're obviously cool with xtras in general and can tell you what they've used. I know people like the titec jeff jones bars, but you know as well as I do that bars are super-individual.

go for the Titec H-bar
marys aren't all that, their major downfall, are its curves, that is, they do not lend themselves easily to adding things, like a light...
Serfas Drifters are awesome tyres. I use the 2.1

I've got Tioga Cityslickers on my Xtra, and they roll pretty nice and hold the pavement well. Not that great for off road, obviously, but they do fine on a gravel bike path.
I've also got Mary bars (well, knockoffs actually; Origin8 Space Bars). I like the lay out and the curves. I've got a Cateye headlight, and the base has about 5deg or so of swivel, so that the light actually point forwards. It took me awhile to find that light too. That's my only complaint about th bars. Everything about them I like a lot.

I'm running Schwalbe Marathons 1.5s right now. They are good.
Before that were Michelin TransWorld Cities and they were real good too.
Currently I'm running an Albatross bar, but my bike is an upright.
Personally I like Mary Bars.
