Scrapfiets

I've been working on this on this nights and weekends for the past couple weeks. I'd been holding onto the rear frame for over a year with a cargo bike in mind. The steering linkage will need to be rebuilt a little stiffer, but overall it rides good. I'm not sure if the handling is poor or if I just have to get used to it. It will get a nasty coat of primer for a few weeks to see if anything breaks or needs to be re worked, I might powdercoat it afterwards, we'll see. The box is going to be made from an old plywood real estate sign that I "aquired" from a company who fired a friend of mine a week after promising her 20% more a year. The frame is made from scrap frames with the exception of the long rectangular tube for the cargo area and the long rear headtube.

Way to get building. I would recommend some gussets or other reinforcing on the cargo bed side of the steering tube bottom.

Here it is. Still needs a front brake cable and a front derailleur and cable, but its rideable for testing purposes. Only took it two miles so far.

I'll try to get some decent pics soon. These are just quick cell phone pics.

Nice handiwork, and good looking. How does it ride?

This is great! I'd love to build a cargo bike from scrap. If I get a workshop or garage to use it will be something I'll have a go at.
