BOB Trailer with Surfboard Rack Mod

Hi i just bought a used BOB that i need to modify in order to carry a surfboard. I need to make a rack that goes over the top of the little wheel but i dont have welding equipment, so im thinking PVC pipe (yuck)

So has anyone made a rack mod to carry surfboards?....any pics /tips?

thanks!

I have not, but I do own a BOB and have a suggestion.

Assuming your board isn't much more than 6ft long, you could use a second BOB skewer in the trailer wheel itself. Use that to support a framework which extends beyond the trailer's wheel since only the first 3ft will fit between the "bow of the trailer and the wheel's center (I just measured it).

You'd need some weight preferably in the front of the BOB to provide tongue weight since mounting this way makes the trailer wheel a fulcrum point. A 12-pack ought to do it

Yeah my surfboard is only 5'6" ....so balancing the weight should be easy with a 12 pack/gear towards the fulcrum point like you said.. Since i have not found any stout racks for 16" wheels, im now thinking a possible mod would be to get a tiny kids bike fork, cut the steerer tube and mount the ends to the BOB 16" wheel quick release. then fasten the top to where the BOB fender attaches. i really like the way the BOB handles the tight confines of the city, a two wheel trailer just would be two wide and less maneuverable
