Need extended rear rack

Greetings all. Problem: When riding clipless, my heels hit any rear pannier other than those that hang high on the rear rack. I need to replace my rear rack, and was hoping to find one that's a few inches LONGER so that I can slide panniers just two or three inches back and not hit my heel.

Internet search has not lead me to anything that definitely is longer, so I'm asking you all to point me in the right direction. Will be bike commuting daily this upcoming school year (I'm a teacher) and want to get everything set up solid. Thanks!

Have you asked in the touring forum?

Easy, the Jandd Expedition. http://www.jandd.com/detail.asp?PRODUCT_ID=FREXP

Great rack.

The Axiom Steamliner Road rack has an offset to help with heel strike. The part I don't like about this rack is the narrow top shelf. It makes fitting trunk bags a little difficult. I had to make extenders for my trunk bag's velcro straps with narrow top shelves. Also, this rack attaches to a brake bridge, your bike might not have one.

You can actually buy an "ad on" that you can use to extend most standard racks. Not sure if it is light and elegant and cheap enough to be a real option.

The Jandd expedition rack is longer (and stronger) than most.

Personally, I prefer no rack and to use the Carradice Nelson longflap saddlebag. A saddlebag large enough to meet your needs will eliminate any need for a rack/panniers, thereby solving your problem.
