Double Kickstands
Does any one know anything abou the SUNLITE Double Kickstand? forged alloy.
As aposed to the M-Wave Steel Double Leg Bike Side Stand? cast steel? |
I've been looking at getting one of those double kickstands for my tandem. The two brands that keep coming up as recommendations when I search for info are the Esge and Pletchser. Don't have any feedback on the Sunlite, I'm afraid.

Alu is not a good material for kickstands, particularly used with loaded bikes. M-Wave looks like a copy of Hebie which is a decent kickstand.

I have this fully adjustable stand that should fit any bike.

So, you want 4 point stability while loading up or will 3 do?
1 wheel will be off the ground.. |
I've used the Sunlite double kickstand for about 1 & 1/2 years. It's been pretty good, although the rubber end caps on each side will disappear after a couple of weeks.
You also want to come up with a DIY solution to prevent front wheel swing after the bike is elevated on the kickstand, especially if the front wheel is loaded with a lot of weight. There was a post on some creative ideas in here not too long ago. One nice feature of the double kickstand is that it can serve as an emergency bike stand for repairs when you are on the road. |
