Found high pressure 26" tire, thought I'd share
 

I've been on kind of a quest to find a 26" tire that was decently wide but capable of higher pressures. Useful on cargo bike or tandems for instance.

I found them, and my special order came in today, so they do exist.

Thought I'd pass it along in case anyone else was looking for the same thing I was with no luck.

Why do you feel a need for a Rock Hard, Fat tire? It makes NO sense.

Those Armadillos come with a massive weight penalty and high pressure and wide tyres generally do not work well together... I changed the Marathons on my touring bike to Marathon Racers and at 1.5 inches you really don't need to run more than 75 psi.

I'd imagine you'd need some hardcore rims.

The force generated by a wide section tyre at high psi is rather extreme... I run my Marathons on 26 inch CR18 rims which are wider than what a lot of modern mtb rims are and this lets the tyre work the way it is supposed to as the rim and tyre match nicely.

Lesser rims might not handle the stresses well at all.

At 65 psi the Racers feel rather firm and this is a good running pressure for when I am not loaded up.

I'm not going to run them at 100 psi all the time, of course. Also, I would not consider 1.75 to be a balloon tire or fat tire, really. 26x2.35, sure, that's wide. I wanted the option to run higher than the 60 pounds give or take that a lot of tires in this range seem to max out at, and on my cargo and tandem I value toughness over weight savings. On my road bike, my priorities are different. I just thought it was unusual to find a tire in this size that was rated for elevated pressures and that someone might find it useful.

I've been running these http://www.specialized.com/us/en/ftb...oads-armadillo on my mountain bike for road riding, 100psi max, smooth center for roads, luggy for dirts.. I like them, they're a little heavy, but I prefer more flat protection.
