Victoria to Sydney
Two Grandsons (14 & 16) and myself (60) are planning on taking ferry from Seattle to Victoria and then riding to sydney and then taking ferry to san juan islands and then to Anarcortes.
If we are leaving Seattle Sunday (May 27) @ 7:30 a.m. Would you recommend we spend the day in Victoria and stay at the Turtle Refuge hostel and go up to Sydney on Monday (in States Memorial day) or to go ahead and ride up to Sydney and plan on staying Sunday nite where?
Thanks
Jeff Day

my recommendation would depend on how fast your group rides and the ferry schedule (and which ones you wanted to catch)
from my place in saanich, north sidney (the marinas) is about 30km...the ferry terminals are about 5-7km. so it's pretty doable....

Spend the day in Victoria - there's a gazillion things to do, most of which have nothing to do with the tea and crumpets version of Victoria! Check out the Bug Zoo near the Inner harbour - you guys can actually hold a tarantula if you want! One of the tour guides there used to be a huge bike advocacy person (she may have moved on by now, I left 2 years ago).
Have a great time!
