got lucky with some tires
these studded Swalbe Marathon Winters still have some life left in them. also added some extenders on 2 bikes' miniclips to accommodate my clown feet w shoe covers. I might cut some new ones for another 1/4"

Toe clip extenders: I had not heard of them. Nice. I like how you took the straps off the toe clips to accommodate your booties. What kind of bike you use in winter?

the extenders are just nylon spacers from the hardware store that I cut to size. I think they can be a little longer, so might redo them.
it's hard to find a big enough toe clip or mini clip for my covered feet.
finding the right length bolt (+nuts & washers) was my challenge. I made the mistake of shopping without first measuring.
reg bike, well last yr I had just my road bike which I could only ride if there was no ice. this year I accidentally picked up 2 hybrids. 1 is an old beater schwinn I'm knocking around with on unpaved trails. the other is a newer nicer trek I'm saving for pavement. just ordered fenders for both. not entirely sure which will get the studded tires yet. but I saw them for a steal and just grabbed them before someone else got them. I feel so stupid cuz I sold a fully equipped winter bike this past spring & now I have to set up another one

After one winter, they should corrode in place nicely.

used washers & lock washers but thanks for the suggestion. didn't even occur to me to look for nylon fasteners! I have been known to move these around from bike to bike

finally got cold & some black ice showed up. thought it might be a good time to mount the studded tires. took a chance & decided on which of my 3 bikes to put them. everything I buy is pre-owned including the bikes. when un-mounting the original tires/tubes I discovered the tubes practically fused w the tires. so it took a while to gingerly separate the tubes from the inside of the tires. probably should have replaced them them but they honestly looked fine once I got them out
mounted the tires in short order. but looking at the pics now I see some sidewall cracks I'm going to keep an eye on. didn't ask the guy I bought them from how old they were but I did inspect them closely. maybe the cracks showed up after inflation. I might treat them with some kind of tire product to help keep them from drying out further
cold this weekend but conditions should be dry. maybe I'll use the road bike & not this hybrid, ha!
