guess the winter bikes are still needed in the northeast, huh? one nice benefit of putting pedal extenders on is that I was able to use my size 14 Columbia cold weather boots last Saturday. got the week to plan where to ride next Saturday. maybe the gravel powerline trails in Carver. with all the wind expected those trails might still have less snow cuz they are exposed. but if next Saturday is a windy day, I'll be better off in the woods. don't have a fatbike so can't ride anywhere that's deep

I'm riding today, in case the snow will be too deep. About a foot is predicted down here. 40 mph gusts will probably make some huge drifts.

edit - now they are saying 50 mph gusts. I have my generator ready to go.

Don't you just love the weather in March? Winter coats and the snow blower one day shorts and a lawnmower the next, haha

Yeah but, it's been March all winter this year. 🤔 They're predicting 18" here, in NE Ohio. Maybe next week, we can go swimming. 😉

rumrunn6, I think we have the same plow guy. As a community, we complained and now, he gladly waits. It was not very realistic for him to expect us all to stare out the window wondering when his flaky schedule was going to have him grace us with his presence.
We now park on one side, let him do his thing for the entire development, while we move to the plowed side. That gives us a good hour when before he would impatiently try to plow around cars and bury them in snow.

Now you got me thinking about that. I was going to clean my bike, but a few inches of clean snow would do the same thing. I think.....

watching wave after wave of high wind, heavy bands of snow. it's crazy out there now. for now, just keeping the bird feeder clear. 1 cat took a short walk early but now all three have hunkered down

It's Wednesday afternoon now. The snow was half washed away by rain. For a while is was soft slush, then at night it froze everything. There is a little snow but mostly ice off road and on the bike path. I'm riding on the ice tomorrow. Studded tires make ice almost as good as pavement.
