I seen them them at the Mountain Equipment Co-op store this week.
There is probably warmer and better wicking versions. Do you know of any?

the smartwool units looks good but they are pricey

these look good MEC T2 LONG JOHNS - MEN'S $33

big selection

I keep in mind that this is just 1 layer. for me, I sometimes use a base like this but other times I'll use cycling pants under something else. meaning what you choose may depend on what they are going under

I am concerned the smartwool will not hold up well.

the "gusseted" part sounds irrelevant (to me) I would wear my thin lined cycling trishorts under them. that's always my first cycling layer. the other stuff about moisture management sounds ok but my legs don't sweat outside the area that I wear cycling shorts. they do sound comfy & warm. I'm not opposed to 100% synthetics. (use them myself) I like to buy stuff like this 1 or 2 sizes larger than normal. so for me that would be XXL & I would always hang dry it. what will you be wearing it under?
