Winter is finally coming !

Decided to leave work a little early and start the weekend off with 3 hours playing on the trails. Couldn't help but go play on the ice for a bit, and stop to see how the guys ice fishing were doing. Let's hope the weather forecast is right because they are projecting 23" of snow starting late Saturday.

I am located in south coastal Delaware. We are looking at the first Arctic Express moving in Sunday night. Forecast is for the temps dropping from 55 F to 10 F with 25 mph gusting winds. I know that does not sound all that bad to northern locations, but we do not get into single digits too often. We may get there Sunday or Monday night. There will be a lot of frozen pipes.

I'm in northern Indiana. We are suppose to get 4 to 7 inches. This may be the end of my season, depending on how much side of the road is available to ride on.

Love your videos man! The system left us with our first decent snowfall of the season. 12°f and 20mph winds right now. Time for the bar mitts!

My road bikes are in hibernation and the 29 plus, and fat bike get me out through winter.

Thanks ! I see more and more people posting with bar mitts, how do you like them ?

Love them, lets me use a lighter weight glove at low temperatures to help with moisture control. I put them on around 28°f. Gloves can get sweaty but I don't worry about my hands freezing if I stop, cool and then restart. Also keeps me warm in wet conditions.

Side benefit I find is that if I'm about to crash it forces me to keep my hands on the bars for a proper fall, and prevents me from instinctively putting my hands out.

We FINALLY got a bit of snow in western Wisconsin.

I feel really bad for the fat bike riders this season. First, there was no snow; now, it's cold enough that the snow is really fluffy, creating problems with trying to groom the trails.

Five inches here. All the Minis and Fartat 500s are beached. We're gonna try the MUPs in a few minutes. There was about 2" on my commute home last night. Fresh snow on top with a mix of hard pack and ice underneath. Windrows in the intersections. Suomi M&Gs ate it right up.

I've thought about a plus bike for winter. Many people say plus bikes are not fat enough. How does it work for you?

I live in a real big snowmobile region and the 29 plus bike for me is real good on the groomed trails. But if everything gets frozen over then the fat bike with studded tires comes out to play. When winter is over then I'm on the 29 plus bike on almost all rides, unless I bring a new rider out and then I use the fat bike so they can use the 29 plus bike.

that was fun, love the new intro, skidding on ice! then later skidding past the camera! riding from lake onto the beach was fun too!

A big Thanks to you rumrunn6 for steering toward studded tires. Being that I'm still a newbie when it comes to trail riding and last year was my first winter riding outside I welcome advice. Once I knew the lake was frozen I figured I'd go play on it during my ride. I'm getting better at trusting the studded tires on some of the frozen single track trails.

Saturday was a nice day for riding, in the twenties, but that was it for a while. I don't trust the drivers, and I'm not good on ice, and hate salt.
