who does winter cycling here?

I'm in the midwest. We went down to one car since and my commute is less than 3 miles. I figure even on the coldest days I can make that work. I actually don't have a bike yet but I've narrowed it down to two options. I'd love to hear if you've got any thoughts: Never felt so good riding a bike. Help me find something similar!
I don't have a lot of experience with gravel bikes but I've seen people say they really like them for winter cycling. So can I suggest doing a "search threads" and seeing what people have said in the recent past. And someone else will undoubtedly be replying to this post.

They are expensive, but for me, I wouldn't even think about it most days without my velomobile. Fully enclosed drive train keeps the salt off it. It's ~15-20F warmer than ambient when I get warmed up, three wheels, so I can't tip, and it's fun to boot (although not so much when slogging through fresh snow).

A Fixie makes total sense for winter riding. Where I'm at, Edmonton, I use my aluminium frame with a Shimano Nexus hub and it tends to freeze in one gear, thankfully in a mid range one.

I’ve commuted throughout the year in the past but find it hard to work up much enthusiasm for a rideout when it’s cold and wet. Respect to those who cycle in snow 🥶!

That's impressive, but I don't see a bike.

So, I grew up road riding in Florida. There may have been 3 weeks in the whole year combined when I didn't ride. Moved to east Tennessee 12 years ago and just picked up road cycling this year. Bought a used Litespeed Tuscany, lost 45 lbs and want more. I have ridden 1375 miles since March. I would like to ride was long as it's above about 40-45. But, I don't have anything other than short sleeve jersey and shorts. I am definitely looking to add longsleeve jersey and maybe a jacket, leggings and full gloves. Anything better than another brand wise or is it you get what you pay for?

We got some snow on Christmas, so I took a short spin around town to enjoy the powder and silence. I typically ride in winter, preferring country, dirt roads— especially if snowy— but we don’t get a lot of snow piling up here, and we plow and salt pretty aggressively, so paved roads are usually pretty clear, too.

Find it weird you need 10 post before you are allowed to upload pictures. Must be to motivate traffic in the channel?
So who does winter cycling?

Here's an annual race on Lake Minnetonka - the year of this video, I think we had a high temp of 5F.

Rule of thumb in Minnesota, when the news stops reporting about F150s going through the ice ... then it's safe to go on the ice
For reference, earlier this week on Lake Minnetonka - it's been a mild winter and the lake ice is not ready.

I'm in Illinois, but I have always used the Minnesota Department of Natural Resources General Ice Thickness Guidelines for (relative) safety!

Count me in. This would be my third winter riding my Marlin 7 and I just replaced the tires with a new set of Maxxis Ardents. I’m looking forward to the local MUPs here in PA being less populated and riding in more comfortable temperatures. I’m hoping the Ardents are a good tire for riding in fall leaves, winter slush and early spring muck.

PS: I took off that chain guide. Not recommended.

I don't love riding in winter, but riding is so much better than not riding.

In the deep South, it gets cool enough that I may not ride a road bike as often, turning to my Montague for a good workout without as much wind.
But... it doesn't snow often, and the temps really don't stay very low or for long.
Building a franken-Bianchi Ocelot with drop bars, oughta make a fabulous sloppy weather bike.
Just hangin' some parts on it in this pic, will update in one of my threads when finished.
