Someone called off the winter.

My ski tracks are gone and the fire roads are slush so today I took my Basso Loto for a 45 mile spin around Oslo, Norway. Strange january this should be the deepest of the nordic winter with a meter of snow and minus 10 to 15 celsius. Instead it is 10 plus and no more snow. Nice to have a decent (and fast)winter bike though. (Steel and DA 8 speed, conti GP 300)

Someone called off winter around the birthplace of organized American skiing as well, plodderslusk. The trails near the US Ski Hall of Fame, in Ishpeming, MI, have much less than normal snow amounts. Many of the trails in the UP are not getting groomed yet. It is sad for winter lovers, some of the loppets may get called off for lack of snowcover..

Inch of snow here today, windy as a VC preacher too. But it's supposed to be back to rain by Monday evening or so.

We have some pretty good skiing still from the last snowfall. We've been lucky because we seem to be getting an inch or so refresh every week. City of Lakes Loppet was called of last year!

Whoa! Temperature dropped 18 degrees since I posted that last message. Maybe we'll see a little bit of winter after all.

NOAA scientists and researchers have been sworn to secrecy under the patriot act to officially deny global warming.
-Word from guys off the NOAA arctic research ships that pull thru Seattle, they are 'not supposed to talk about it.'

We skipped over winter also here in Western Washington. Twenty-six straight days of rain. Temperatures in the mid to upper 40's. Looks like it will be six months of rainy spring weather. I am not complaining, I would rather ride in the rain than in the snow.

You just had to wait a few hours.

50+ºF and clear Monday -> mid 50s with dense fog all day Friday -> 50s and pouring Saturday -> 3+ inches of snow on the ground Sunday morning

Winter's back, and it's not happy.

We've had a mild winter here in Central Ohio, too. And I just killed the chance of winter returning here. I bought a pair of Lake MXZ 301 MTB Shoes at Performance. I had been waiting for a coupon, and got a 10% off one.

Although I miss using my cold weather gear, I don't miss paying the wacko gas bills it would have taken to keep my home warm (or even above freezing) when it's <10F day after day.

The Russians are getting all the winter weather ... Google up "russia cold" in the news ... -22 F for a high temp in Moscow? Chance of breaking the all time low of -42F in Moscow?

Not that you can ski much in those temps.

Toronto...CANADA 11 degrees Celcius today ..... in JAN?!!! rode ...no glove jacket open..... twisted. I haven't even had to build my winter fenders this year. Couple weeks ago took the kids skating ice was soft. Plodderslusk...I hear the pain, OSLO should be frozen solid for three more months....how very disappointing. It'll come back though I hope.
