I've got a VDO that hasn't worked since November. Can anyone recommend a good computer that works at lower temps? Will the wireless cateye work in the cold?

Try a new battery. My wired VDO has worked flawlessly down to -32c. Of course the LCD was a little sluggish, but that happens to all LCD screens at low temperatures.
Is yours wireless?

I believe that there are some wireless ones that are watch type on the wrist. This way it can double as a watch and your body temp will help to keep it warm

Anything that uses batteries is going to have some difficulties in the cold. That's the nature of batteries.

My brief experience of wireless Sigma in winter conditions made me change to wired unit fairly quickly. I sometimes have to leave the bike out in the cold overnight. I take the computer with me of course, but there's no practical way to keep the other powered parts of a wireless setup warm overnight.
The wristop computers (e.g. Suunto and such) have the same problem. Unless you get a wristop GPS, which doesn't require additional parts.

My Sigma BC500 has been fine.
The BC1600 on the roadbike is hopelessly crap though.
