Winter Ride Pics.
Pics from this morning's ride. Sometimes winter isn't all that ugly. :D This is out in the countryside where i normally ride in the mornings. It's peaceful and quiet. 21 miles this morning took me almost 2 hours. The roads were not too bad but i got into some mud later on that really slowed me down.

Nice, it reminds me of our Fall here ;)

this looks exactly like my commute!! you JUST have to replace every tree by a car, add buildings and houses everywhere else, and why not replace mud by slush while we are at it...
seriously, i wish it would look a little more like that... the wind must be _very_ bad at times... do they put salt on those roads or is the ground just not frozen (yet)? |
Makes me glad I have the winter rides I do. Dry roads and the beautiful blue Pacific. Ahhhhh...
Life is just a bit different here. |
Awesome ride Portis. Looks like the midwest to me. Never seen the plains look so beautiful. That dirt road must have been a blast as long as no deep mud. Keep pedaling.

Cool pics. Would love to see more winter ride pics from others as well. I'll try and remember to take my camera tomorrow.

It was 0 F and -15 to -20 F windchill here today. Rode 19 miles in about an hour and a half.

My commute is 5 km one way. In the summer it takes 10 minutes, in the winter 20-25min The longest I have ridden this winter is 2.5 hours at -27C |

Portis ... I have the same trunk bag as you do ...... only mine doesn't look anywhere near that pristine anymore!
I don't have any winter cycling pictures because I haven't ridden outside since the end of December, but here's what I'm looking at when I head out the door. I guess I could ride a little on the sidewalk. . |
oh how i wish i had a camera...
portis, you look kinda mad in the first picture! i have to admit that after trying in vain to get traction on the unplowed street yesterday after the big dump of snow toronto got, i gave up and took to the sidewalk :o but at each intersection i had to jump off and RUN over big drifts of snow! it took three times as long, which made me late for my first day of a new job :o then my derailleurs froze for my ride home (usually i ride a SS) so it was even harder :o ps. -32C.... i'd definitely wear goggles at that point. that's cold! |

Nice!
Do you have any problems breathing through the balaclava? I usually end up leaving my mouth and nose exposed so I can get enough air. |

Isn't it hard to type with those gloves on? :D Mist on our river is a common thing when the temperature is below about -17C. When it gets colder there is lots of ice crystals in the air. Hopefully we get a good hoarfrost day yet. As for typing with the gloves, voice recognition... Think Scotty in Star Trek IV, "Computer...." :D |
