Jacket with vented back and zipper arm pits

I'm looking for a winter jacket with a vented back and vented (zippered) arm pits. Overheating is my primary issue when cycling in cold weather. Has anyone tried the Gore Finish Jacket, or any product from Gore? Here is a link:

I use a Rebok vented windbreaker. It is vented front and back with overlapping material. It works very nicely. I use it as my outermost layer in temps down to about 20F. I think the key is adjusting your layers in addition to some venting. I purchased the jacket at the local Salvation Army Thrift Store for around $4.00. I also have non-vented windbreakers/jackets for colder conditions or different layering options.

If you get that jacket, be sure to post your opinion of it!

I have several Pearl jackets that did not come with pit zips, so I bought some long zippers and had a seamstrist put them in for me. Worked fine.

Will do! It's going to be very difficult for me to justify the expense, so I'll probably go another route. However, the vented back and zipped pits sound so perfect for me.

I just purchased a Pearl Iszumi windshirt with zip of sleeves. I was looking at a rain jacket with zippered pits, and opted for the PI a little cheaper, and versitile. One of the cool things with this shirt is, over a wool sweater, with or without sleaves it is pretty toasty.

I have ridden in the winter with a "rain" pull over that I swam in due to the fabric not breathing, and even with this windshirt, while it is a little more breathable, I still wind up with a moisture problem. I started the winter in that rain shirt and hated it, and the PI has been a great solution.

With layers, you don't need a thick top layer, I'm riding in 20s with a base layer and a virgin wool sweater. I carry a heavy sweater as well, but really sweat it up in that sweater.

I bought a Louis Garneau Spotlite jacket last winter, was warm to temps of around -15 C or about +5 F, as well as staying dry in the rain. I only wear it when the temperature is below 35 F. They have a back vent as well as zippered pit vents. Performancebike.com has them on sale for $85!

I recently purchased the Xalt jacket from Performance. It was $149.99 and is now on sale for $74.99 (I think they're closing them out, but not sure).

I second MMPC's comments about the Xalt jacket from Performance. I paid $99.99 and thought it was an excellent value....very long pit zips, vented back, mesh liner, rear and interior pockets, reflective trim. $74.99 is a steal but I'm not sure how many they have left.

I've used mine for 5-6 years, and it's the messenger jacket of choice here in sunner Portland, Oregon.

It has vents in front and bag, long pit zips, breathable/waterproof upper body plus a long waterproof tail in back... And it's made in Eugene, Oregon.
