Fell in an icy rut today...

...and didn't even break the eggs in my backpack!

On another note, it is currently -37C(-34F) and -51C(-60F) counting the windchill in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan, Canada. We have also recieved about a foot of snow in the last week. We've had several days this winter when the school buses and garbage trucks were out of service due to hydraulic failures.

Anyone else in western Canada feel like the end of the world is upon us? Studded tires, arctic combat mitts, a disc-bolt fixed cog and ski goggles have kept me riding every day this winter but, sometimes I feel like I live on f***ing Mars!

I mean, obviously we all derive some bizarre kind of pleasure from doing this, but I can't be the only one who feels like a mentally ill astronaut every time I leave the house, can I?

I am with you, friend. This is my first winter commuting by bike. I am hoping my studded tires get here early this week. Vancouver area has quite a bit of snow.

Wow Silver. Significant conditions. Hopefully the snow plows are still operational. I live in London, ON and it never gets that cold here. I think the coldest I rode in was -25C. How long are your rides in those temps?

Oh and regarding the fall, like you said, whatever . We all fall in winter.

I can only imagine what your friends say about this . Do people cross country ski in those conditions? I like to compare the craziness of cycling in winter with the sportiness of cross country skiing in winter, since people can't relate to cycling in winter much.
