I'd like to change my final answer.

What's getting really old is listening to everyone in this lame town whine endlessly about how terrible winter is.

Frail.

Salt and sand. It's like I've been on the beach all day but with none of the fun.

Snow plows- love/hate relationship.

And today, when it finally went up above freezing for the first time in about 2 months, the smell of 2 months of frozen dog crap all melting at once.

In the dead of winter i miss the sun. Arrive to work in the dark and leave from work in the dark. At least it's getting to the point where the sun is still out for the ride home.

I hate the dark today. It's getting better gradually but today's sunset is scheduled for 5:02p.m. and in midwinter, it's an hour earlier.
Also being in a city on the South Coast of the UK which has it's worst snowfall for over 18 years and our total uincompetence in handling it. Coming off the bike turning a corner (thankfully only at 4mph) and having a sore back the rest of the day.
Having a run on the Students Union shop gloves when your only pair has two holes in the ends of the fingers and morning temperatures are in the upper 20's is quite nasty too.

When the temperature rises above 0°C (32F) and there are big pools of water on the streets and when a bus hits that pool and I’m driving on the other side of the pool and next I’m spitting salty slush out of my mouth and all my clothes are covered with that salty water, which when it dries leaves gray spots on my clothes. And the taste of the filthy water stays for the rest of the drive. It’s not nice.

1. glasses that fog up
2. The time it takes to change my clothes
3. stupid questions, i.e. "you are not biking in that weather." By the time she cleans off the car, warms it up I am halfway home. She has already invested four thusand dollars in a car that isn't worth spit.
4. riding in the dark.

It rarely gets very cold up here near Seattle, having said that, ice is a problem at times. I find little else to complain about during a winter ride.

Glasses fogging.
Goggles fogging.
Dirty bike. Dirty chain.
Face gear getting soaked from water vapor, wet fabric is like a plastic bag, suffocating.
Cycle tracks, and pedestrian tracks that freeze, making a horrible surface to ride on.
Trying not to sweat, gotta ride slow. I have nothing but a t-shirt and a windbreaker, so I freeze when I set off, and then start sweating half way to my destination.

Temps are 0- -10 c.

Someone asked me the other day why I like to ride during the winter. I said I don't like to ride in the winter (not exactly true). I just like to ride and it happens to be winter right now.

I do like to ride down country roads in the winter after a few vehicles have packed the snow down. By this time of year, though, I'm looking forward to spring.

The thing I like the least is the slush and slop in near freezing weather.

In England, Winter can often be the best time of year. I dislike clothing comments. Being full of testosterone and frustated with excess comments, I yelled at someone who tried to tell me off wearing shorts and a t shirt and not having a jumper in 49 degree weather.

It's colder, it's darker, and the roads can get really bad. What's not to love?

Hate is a powerful word...

The phenomenal speed at which bikes degrade is probably what I like the least, I've resorted to get beaters and try to not care about them, but they grow onto me anyways and as months go by I see them slowly bio-degrade and burst into rust, it hurts. Not being able to use nice bikes at all for same reason also rather sucks.

I know what you mean. I have had my butt plopped down on my old MTB for many more rides this winter than I want to count. I am also sick of hearing those knobby tires roar, but I do not want to pull out the road bike just yet.

Only a few more weeks left to go.

This is really my only complaint, the inversions in the valley, and people at work saying "I can't believe you are going to ride in this inversion", i just think "I can't believe you are going to get in your car and make it worse".

I can't keep my hands and feet warm! After an hour, under 35F, it doesn't matter what I do-- multiple layers, chem hand/feet warmers. I still feel it.

I want to change my answer.... After having three flats in the last two (two on my way home last night alone) days and having my pump break, I am going to go with flat tires in the snow is my least favorite thing....
