Respect

...to all you hardcore winter snow/ice riders. :thumb:

I don't get snow here, in fact it rarely ever dips below freezing. As I sit here at 2.18AM it's a balmy 27 c. (about 81 F.) and I'm having a great time reading how much fun you guys are having. I don't know if I could do it.

Some of you guys should be wearing viking helmets with horns. :D

Too bad for you. Riding in the snow is a fun change. Also, it makes you appreciate summer riding even more.

Riding on ice is no big deal if you have studded tires. If you've ever ridden on a fairly sandy, rutted dirt road, that is almost exactly what riding in snow is like (at least with the road conditions I typically get). To really enjoy winter riding, you just have to accept the fact that it's going to be different than summer riding. If you expect your speeds and distances to be the same as in summer, you're inviting disappointment.

No viking horns here, but in the spirit of the season, I did tape reindeer antlers to my helmet (the dollar store variety, with LEDs!).

+2

I love bombing through fresh powder on my commuter, and when the roads clear up all of a sudden I feel fast again. I know that I'm not, but it feels great. :P

Here's a whole family of them looking for some snow:

I have respect for those who can cycle on muddy streets. That's always been my downfall... so to speak.
