How do you carry your hardshell jacket?
 

This might have been answered before, but I'm having trouble figuring out how to carry my new Endura Flyte jacket. I own a road bike, I have jersey pockets and I have a Camelbak Rogue. It's not a superlight jacket and it won't really fit in a pocket nor in the Camelbak. Any suggestions?

You could roll it up and strap it to the frame.

Yup, any strap...just don't let it rub because it will rub the DWR finish off. You are using this for road riding i'm thinking?

I haven't used it yet, but I plan to take it with me whenever there's a chance of rain or really cold or windy. I need it for solo training and group rides. I don't do MTB or commuting. Was this a wise choice? Or I should have opted for a softshell?

If it's only a chance of rain, most guys usually pack a super-light waterproof cheap rainjacket that can fit in a jersey pocket or even a tennis-ball container/water bottle.

This jacket is something to take when you know for SURE it will be raining most of the ride.

For simple cold wind it's better to take something that is just wind-resistant and treated with a water repellant... like polartec's wind-pro

Oh... That makes sense... Cause I've never seen anybody pack a jacket like this. I guess I'm gonna use it only in really bad weather.

3 days ago I was out with 10° C wearing a short sleeved merino base layer + summer jersey + arm warmers. Well it wasn't enough. Not to mention my lycra shorts + leg warmers didn't do a thing to warm me. So I ordered this:

I just hope I can layer up or something so I can enjoy the winter rides. It was all good during the warm days. Now I feel the Flyte jacket was unnecessary since I don't plan to ride with rain :(

Well, the important thing is to keep your core warm. If you sweat out the clothes they'll be quite cool, so the trick is to keep body temperature in the appropriate zone by adjusting all the time and thus preventing the sweating. Anyways, all nice gear you've got, i'm sure you'll figure out the right combo!

Not cheap, especially as you'll need a 'bagman' as well as the bag. However, they'll fit on pretty much any bike, including an out and out road bike. Sizes range from 10l bags up to 23l.
