Snowmobile boots?

Hi everyone,
I've recently moved from Upstate NY (cold) to Montreal (colder). Over the past winters I've moved from cycling shoes plus booties to hiking boots to Lake winter cycling boots with two pair of wool socks and chemical foot warmers. Well, I still get cold feet after about an hour on the bike when temperatures are well below freezing. In order to deal with this, especially since the worst of winter is still ahead, I've now considered getting big fat snowmobile boots. Something like this. I'll miss my clipless pedals, but better riding on platform pedals than not riding at all or get cold feet. Does anyone have experience with riding this type of boot?

Thanks,
Harald.

Thanks,

Tried it once. The lack of ankle flex made it an incredibly painful experience.

I'm also from Upstate NY. :-) I always had cold feet, until I found that if I used a layer of wicking socks, inside wool socks, inside leather hiking-style boots ( WITHOUT gore-tex, etc. ) worked wonderfully.

Thanks, that's very helpful. Since the hiking boots haven't worked for me, I'll maybe try some other kind of winter boots, like Sorels or so, that should hopefully be a good tradeoff between warmth and flexibility.

Harald.

I got some low top boots from a sports store. They are camouflage for hunting, but my feet sweat if it's warmer than 20F out, so it works good for me. They were rated down to -10F, IIRC, and they're waterproof too.
