We used to get frost on the inside walls of a couple of houses I lived in back in Missoula. But never ice in the tub.

Yep. We have a furnace. However I had the wood stove going and this particular tub is in the far end of the house. The temp was around -30F (outside) when I took this shot. After the wood stove burned itself out overnight and the furnace kicked in the tub thawed.

Oh, it was -47F this morning! Now thats a bit on the nippy side.

My mom & dad were stationed in Great Falls when my dad was an Air Force pilot. My mom said she'd leave him if he ever made her live anywhere that cold again. My dad said, "I'm posting for Antarctica!" but I don't think he ever actually did.

As a kid I lived in Glascow, MT. My dad was AF also. Much to my fathers dismay, I learned to ride a bike before learning to swim.

Tips of the day:
Use draino while water is warm for maximum effectiveness.
Clean your bathroom before posting picures of your nasty tub.

I have had my pipes freeze and from memory the issue was getting water into the tub not out of it.
And what does frozen pipes have to do with clogged drains and dirty tubs?

I remember in the little old house that i grew up in, we only had a woodstove for heat, no furnace. My parents left one weekend and i got home late night from partying. I didn't bother with putting any wood in the wood stove. It was damned cold when I got up to take a shower and the water came on, but the shampoo was frozen.

I was a lazy freakin kid so my solution? Got done with the shower and said...."screw this place, i am going somewhere else." So i left.

First off, we have high iron well water here. It doesn't get much cleaner that that! So take your negative comments shove'm!

timmhaan
When it goes sub-zero, we leave the water running a little. The ice formed from that. The drain works fine. There was no standing water.

goJohnnygo & Ranger
LOL. I'm keeping the furnace running tonight. Its just so cold that the wood stove can't heat the entire house enough.

USAF has brought many folks to this frozen land. Glasgow AFB has been closed for many years. Antarctica? YIKES!

You also know it is cold when there is "snow" on your neck and head and it isn't snowing.

-15 F windchill for my 20 mile ride this morning. I am tired of ice and ready to take off the studded tires. i have had them on since Christmas and I am still riding over the same ice.
