I need cycling boot covers for really big MTB shoes
I have big feet. I went to the cycling store, to look for shoe covers, but none would fit. It seems like most of what they had was designed for road shoes, but I switched back to my mountain bike shoes a few weeks ago to accommodate thicker socks.
My shoes are size 49, pearl IzumiX-Alp Enduro III, so they are very large. Most of the shoe covers only claim they work up to size 47, so I'm not sure which ones will fit. I want to avoid buying a bunch and having to return them when they don't fit.

On amazon i see someone starting to have cold feet with these at 60F, ohio winter goes down up to 15F on average if not -22F, no shoe cover that i am aware of will make you go that low with your current shoes unless you forget about spd or add some toe warmer.
What is the lowest temperature than you can currently go with your shoes? And what is the lowest you plan to go with them? How much room do you have in your shoes?
With 3 layers of shoe covers of all kind neoprene, goretex, nylon i've got only 15F-20F of them. Because most of the heat goes away via the under sole holes and because the greatly reduced breathability of the shoes due to the shoe covers make feet colder due to the switch from a dry environment (warmer in most situations) to a wet environment (colder in most situations).
If you want to go through the winter it will probably cost you less to buy some winter cycling shoes than 2 or 3 layers of shoe covers.
If you want to try with your current cycling shoes anyway, this shoe cover should be big enough to go over the other shoe covers
adidas ClimaProof MTB Bootie overshoe
If you forget about your current spd shoes then there is plenty of solutions:
neos for a start
45nrth wolvhammer spd cycling shoes
Keen summit county 3 boots

Thanks for the replies. This will be my first winter cycling. So far the coldest I've been biking in is 40 degrees. (I haven't let the weather keep me away, but thats just the coldest its been when I've been out. My feet were only a bit cold, but I wasn't wearing very thick wool socks.
As for how cold I'm willing to go, I'm not sure. My guess would be about 20-30 degrees, nothing super cold, but It just depends on how I feel when the temp drops. If I can still stay somewhat warm at those temps, I'll keep cycling. I don't really want to drop a ton of money on winter shoes, at least this season. If bike enough this winter to justify the expense of winter shoes, maybe I'll try to get some on clearance for next year.

Good cycling shoe covers cost money. The cheapest solution would be some motorcycle boot covers for about 10$ (windproof but not cold proof). Kind of a plastic bag. A plastic bag cut wind as well and is even cheaper.
PVC motorcycle cover

or
showerpass has some XL shoe covers
https://www.showerspass.com/catalog/a...ub-shoe-covers
or
vaude capital plus overshoes size 47-49

or
vaude fluid overshoes size 47-49

or
some rubber shoe covers

or
some expensive overshoes

-----------------------------
+
wool felt insoles

Another solution for about 60$ good up to 0F but no more spds
neos Villager Overshoes
https://www.amazon.com/Honeywell-Safe...=neos+overshoe
Another solution without spds and for half the price of some classic winter boots would be those dive boots
(waterproof and with some room would have enough room for some wool felt liners if you ever feel riding at lower temps, sizing: consider adding 2.5 inches to the dive boots size from your actual foot size for the wool felt liners, may vary with foot size, liner thickness etc..)
oceanic dive boots
https://www.amazon.com/Oceanic-6-5mm-...rds=dive+boots
or
neosport dive boots (sole not stiff enough without wool felt liners or whatever is inside)
https://www.amazon.com/NeoSport-Wetsu...rds=dive+boots

wool felt liners

Realistically the SPD cleat is a Heatsink. It will Transmit the Cold Temperatures, & pull heat from your feet.
I'd suggest using warm Boots with platform pedals..

Showers Pass makes some big shoe covers:
https://www.showerspass.com/catalog/a...ub-shoe-covers
I'm not sure which size I have, but it covers my size 49 MTB shoes nicely.

I am indeed.
Hopefully what that means is even though I don't always think of the right answer, I should be a bit more quick to recognize it when it's presented very nicely wrapped with a bow.
(Politicians aren't supposed to flip flop. Scientists do it all the time. ).

Ha!
Well, I'm going to (obsessively) weigh my cleats and bolts, and I'll ask you what rate we should expect them to dissipate heat at.

Hello guys,
Just wanted to chime in and mention that I've been lurking this thread for a few days due to a curiosity in overshoes and bought some NEOS due to them being recommended by a member. UPS dropped em off today! Very nice indeed! Aside from commuting I'll use them for Snowshoeing as well. These puppies are built to last! Thanks again Bikeforums.net for being the wonderful informative resource that you are.
