Sweaty feet.
I tried searching about foot sweat on the google but all that came up with was a bunch of hooey about medical problems and surgery. I don't have xcessive sweat anywhere else and my feet don't stink. I heard about toxins being released through your feet but I don't know how true that is.
When I am barefoot my feet stay perfectly dry. They are not hot at all and feel cool to the touch. When ever I put a sock and shoe on they start sweating immediatly. Even if I have my feet on carpet they start getting moist on the bottom. I never seemed to have this problem until I started exposing my feet to colder temperatures over the last 5 years with work and biking in the cold. I dont work in the cold anymore but now with fatbiking I still get them cold for up to 3 hours. Which is about how long I would work before taking a break and warming up. Also I've never really wear anything super warm or insulated, I've always toughed it out so to speak. I wonder if i've "over conditioned". Just wondering if any winter cyclists experienced similar results. |
If it bothers you, use antiperspirant on your feet.
Some winter cyclists do that to help keep their feet dry while cycling. I use a spray-on antiperspirant when I wear sandals ... helps prevent blisters. |
I HAD the same problem 4 years ago

I do have Raynaud's (you can look it up) which gets very painful when I ride in the winter, (but no more sweating!) and I feel it may also have contributed. Good luck! |
I've used spray on anti-perspirant for several decades with great results. I also wear thin, moisture moving, socks. I even wear the same socks in cold/winter weather and use them as liners under my thick wool socks when riding, hiking or snow shoeing. Works great for me.
I also treat my feet well. I keep them clean and use Gold Bond medicated skin lotion nearly every day. I'm on my feet, on concrete floors, for at least 8 hours a day and need to take care of my feet. I do not wear cheap, crap shoes or socks either. Quality footwear and socks are important to the well being of your feet and the rest of you...if my feet hurt I'm bigger pain in the ass than usual...that is saying something hehehe. |
I use alot of baby powder and nike dri fit sock, works well for me. My feet and hands sweat in anything and barefoot. Good luck

I have happened on a discovery that has been an eyeopener. Don't know why this is but: I bought and started using the 45 North Fasterkatt winter boots (rated for >25 degrees F). Every ride now in temps up to the mid fifties, often in the rain and sometimes indoors for hours I have come home to the same phenomenon. Absolutely dry, clean feet. I wear usually silk liner socks and synthetic boot socks I picked up at REI. Maybe the boot socks are the magic. The silk socks are as wet and smelly as any other in my other shoes. (I have had ongoing foot problems from too many years in cycling shoes and started using the silk socks to help those issues. Not magic, but they do help, especially with new shoes/boots.)
