It may not look like much. Only 50 miles. But, many of those hills are 10%+. On the Saturday ride, those hairy things on top of the hills mean turning the corner and heading back uphill.

East Portland is somewhat flat. West has hills, and depending on where you live, you can put one in the middle of your commute.

There are some good hilly rides up the gorge, and I think towards the cost too.
