Short easy spin last night, then a fun workout this morning: 20' endurance, 5' threshold, 15' tempo, 30" sprint, 15' tempo, 5' threshold, 30" sprint, 20' tempo.

Lots of racing to do this weekend, and my legs should feel a whole lot better than they did last week.

BTW -- try this, next time you're doing weights and you hit failure, drop 2 plates and push a few more reps without resting. You'll really feel that crap the next day..

+1

I've made a whole lot of changes to a whole lot of things lately so it's hard to pin down any one thing, but I've added this to my diet recently and my legs have never, ever felt better. To the point that I had less soreness last Saturday after a pretty hard race than I usually do after a rest day.

Is it the flax seed itself or the flax seed oil?

I take two flaxseed capsules in the morning and put 1.5 tbsp of ground flaxseed in the recovery drinks. You can get it in the baking section at the grocery store.

I'm being a ***** and just focusing on upper/core. I did do a pretty serious leg workout last Sunday when my ride got canceled, but it wasn't your leg workout.

BTW -- I got some crazy knot in my right quad/IT band area that when I worked it out I had pain radiating up and down from the calf all the way to the glutes. It's amazing how the nerves and fascia all interconnect.

I saw my massage therapist last weekend (Not the rub and tug I prefer) and was complaining of a tight right glute. He started working on the muscle/fibers in my abdomen and found that I had tightness in my colon walls, he worked on loosening that (not from the inside out ) and it released the pressure on my glute.

1:50 mixed Z2/Z3.

Blech. Another ride in a mid-teen windchill. At one point I was time trialing and doing all of 14mph.

I had a similar thing with my back. Much scapula pain on the crashed side. The therapist found that I had scar tissue on my clavicle that was pulling hard on my rib cage. Working that loose (painful as hell) relieved the tension between my scapula and spine by allowing my shoulder to move back just a touch.

I'm not one for the hokey-pokey type stuff but can tell you I was amazed at the end of the session when the tension was gone and he had not actually worked the glute directly. Well worth the $60.

My wife has done it and it provided some relief from her breaking her back but the hokey-pokey stuff is helping tremendously with some of the lingering effects of the accident.
Give it a try and see if it works.

I'm a Muscle Milk guy myself. I drink a mix of the powder after every ride.
It does wonders for my recovery. I'm sure there are better things out there, but I found the 5lb tubs on amazon for pretty cheap.

It's pretty tasty though a little low in protein for my liking. My wife loves it as she is lactose intolerant and Muscle Milk is as well.

Optimum Nutrition Gold Standard. Lower in fat, carbs and calories with the same amount of protein. Protein by % is higher.

My knee is at the bottom of the photo, there wasn't really much definition but you can see some of the veins that are popping out on it.

Did a set of 2 (3x3') @ a target of 105% FTP. Not quite a failure, but not one of my shining moments either. Now looking at Training Peaks I realize I probably should have done the 3 minute intervals on the day before the long tempo ride, not the other way around. Doy!
