Been listening to the siriusxmu station a lot lately...Wooden Shjips and Courtney Barnett are two that I've been digging lately.

"First Light" has George Benson playing on it. Not quite as "smooth" as Kenny G but tending too much in that direction for my taste.

And there is a freakin' cover of a Paul McCartney song on that album.

I spun Weather Report's first LP side 1 for Spawn 1. He requested side 2. Currently spinning.

Weather Report is my jam

I'm into Sweetnighter and Tale Spinnin'

Boogie Woogie Waltz and 125th street congress are frequently in the background when I'm at work preparing samples, emailing customers. or at home cleaning.

Bjork is good in its own right!

Been getting sick of Soil/in this moment as good as they are. Heavy metal is just dying I am so sick of all of the crap being played on rock stations. Looking for some good bands that are really rocking and making you push the pace when testing FTP. Deftones/RATM/Korn etc have all kinda slipped in their recent albums to appeal to the masses and it sucks.

been listening to alot of Bill Evans lately.

the intro is long, but they start swingin' full bore shortly after 1:45. he leaves it nice and open for the bass player and drummer to really wile out.

A little too much "smooth jazz" for my taste, but there are moments that are really awesome.
Smooth jazz? Ahhhhh! You gotta listen to the early stuff. IMO, one of the top 5 all time trumpeters.

Maybe he was referring to that album in particular, or certain tracks.

Anything with George Benson is getting a little too close to "smooth" imo.

on that note:

Wow these guys are really killing it here on one of my (recently) favorite jazz melodies:

I wanna say that the guitar player is really rippin' it, which he is, but the bass player and drummer are laying down a tremendous rhythm for him.

OG version:

Also we saw Kings of Leon + Local Natives last nite at Sleep Train amp. in SD - Chula Vista. It was a really good show.

Local Natives have a few songs I really enjoy, and are a great new act, but clearly don't have the type of sound or experience to excel in a big arena type setting it seemed like. I would like to see them again in a smaller venue.

Kings of Leon just killed it. Great performance; Caleb really sang with heart and it seemed to keep everyone amped. The set list was a perfect mix of old and new, alternating every song.

Wow those kids are good, and more impressively, that's a very accurate replication.

I was a big Tool fan for years. Still enjoy their stuff big time.
