Helmet Cam - Nutmeg State Games Cat 3s June 12, 2010
Wet race. I learned the hard way that the ContourHD is NOT waterproof. I couldn't use the cam the next day at a dry race because of the condensation inside the camera.
I almost fell, on my own, in every bend in the course, and decided that I better sit at the back for safety's sake. Started moving up with about 1/4 of a lap to go, led through the last turn, and screwed up the sprint.
There was a minor distraction where two guys got into it on the right side. The antagonist actually lost control, hit the other guy's derailleur, and crashed into a lamp post. He then got up, chased down the other guy on foot (the other guy's derailleur was broken), threw something at him (his bike or his wheel), then proceeded to stomp on the broken derailleur guy's rear wheel. This is why you see the golf carts, carrying EMT folks, driving all over the place - they were chasing one another around the course. I only catch the initial crash on camera. The rest of it happened in various areas off course.

pretty cool. my old teammate was in that race (big guy in Luzzo's kit).
nice job thinking through and managing the course in the rain.
surprised you didn't sprint early with the downhill, you might have won. i won there two years ago. made the same move as you on the inside of the last corner and began to sprint as the radius of the curve eased up.
everybody hesitated and thought it was too early, but the downhill start made the sprint play out shorter than its actual length.

Did you take 10 lbs. out of each tire before the start? Did you hold the bike up through the fast turns?

Wow.... I am doing some research on cycling,as I want to start soon and buy a bike. Problem is, no one rides in southern New Hampshire!
but that video......was AMAZING. Please do more like that, I was glued to my seat haha
Also, the remix you added to that song was phenomenal!

For Southern NH, you'll have to head down just a bit. Lots of riding in MA.
With the HED Bastogne wheels, I run 95/105 psi. I think I'll be running higher pressures, maybe 105/110 or 110/115, based on a bit of mushiness at the 95/105.
What was scary was when the front wheel moved laterally, regardless of what I wanted it to do.
I think what I need to do is to swap my brake pads so I can use the tubulars instead of the clinchers. The tubulars handle the same regardless of rim width, whereas the wider clincher rims do change how a clincher rides.
The other thing is I need to go out and ride when it's raining. I usually avoid it.
I haven't seen any pictures of New Britain Crit, but I haven't looked either. Just the one below your sig I did look for Nutmeg pictures but it seems that no one had a working camera that day.
