I've completed all 4 clinics and races and plan on doing the last one too. Any idea how I can verify that I've received the points for them?

I had asked the people at registration, and they said that the pts will not show up until the end of the clinics, which I believe should've been last week. However I just checked myself on USAC and its still not there.

You track the points yourself. Don't depend in the USAC to track them. In fact the points on USAC aren't upgrade points, theyre some special points that only have meaning to USAC.

That makes no sense. My understanding is that the Early Bird clinics and races do count towards an upgrade.

1) You keep track of your upgrade points. When you get 10 starts (EB training clinics start), apply for your 4s upgrade
2) the points he's talking about appear on USAC when you log on. If you place in a race you may get 10 points or something -- these aren't upgrade points. These are ranking points of some sort. Don't worry about them.

Yeah, that's what I was told. That a list would be compiled after the last one and submitted.

USAC does not equal NCNCA. Their points aren't the same. For NCNCA upgrades, keep track of your points. Don't expect USAC or NCNCA to calculate your points, or even register all of your placings.

[QUOTE=milliron;12131797]Being in the drops seems massively advantageous when cornering at speed. Lower center of gravity and more protection for your bars.
one guy rides in the drops and his arms are nearly fully extended. another guy rides on the hoods and he has about an 80 degree angle at his elbow. who has a lower center of gravity, who is more aero? I'd wager that the guy on the hoods with less arm surface area catching wind is more aero, and he might even have a lower center of gravity if his shoulder ends up being lower, and more aero due to less upper body catching wind.
now being in the drops with a 90 degree bend at the elbows? unthinkable for me right now.

Here's the official 5 to 4 upgrade rules from NCNCA: "Experience in 10 mass start races. Local Associations may also establish policies where upgrade credit is given for taking a sanctioned rider education clinic."
To me, that means that 4 Early Bird sessions + 4 more race starts = Upgrade. Anyone disagree?

Last year we got 2 "starts" per clinic/training race. I went to 2 EB's to get my Cat 4 upgrade before the season got underway.

So it's on the honor system? Interesting.
