Did power starts tonight. Out of the saddle, biggest gear from a dead stop, hard as you can for 10 revolutions. First two went well. Third one chain came off, toasting the chain, and shearing off part of 2 teeth on the chain ring.

Not sure I'm doing that drill again.

Ripping off chainring teeth: that's bucket-list material. Way better than merely getting a speeding ticket on a bike.

I only do this drill when I know that everything is in tip top shape.

I wouldn't even think about it on my race bike right now because my cassette is kind of worn and I need a new one very soon. It is good enough for base riding and even VO2max intervals, but I am not going to try to sprint on it until I replace it.

I like to do that sort of thing on group rides, that is, sprint from stops in a big gear and everyone will chase to get on. It helps to wear out the other freds, something I learned years ago while chasing a friend who did that same thing.

Some of us have joint related stuff erryday, and have for years.

I don't have a lot of confidence in the medical community in general, having seen my share of uncaring quacks.

For me it is March, but our season in FLA ends in June and restarts much later.

Added in edit: This conversation is kind of a Training Status one more than a RTT one.

I thought everything was hitting fine. I think it was just flex in the chainring.

It was a fair amount of torque, with 1100 watts at 30 rpm.

Bummer! There are advantages to being as wimpy as I am...did a set of six of these (five minutes RBI) last week, then did three interspersed with three stomps yesterday, both sets were done in the middle of a four hour ride. No chain problems, and additional confirmation of my high level of wussitude.

Who in gods name holds a race in January? Are you racing a DH race on an alpine mountain?

I've been dealing with this stuff for a good long while as well. Additionally, I've had my share of crappy doctors like the orthopod that thought my disc herniation was a hip issue till I told him that I couldn't lift my foot...

There are a few duds in every walk of life. Sadly, one often finds that out the hard way.

If so, I will see you there at least for the road race.

Doing the 'Bring It On'? I might show up for grins, but not take it seriously.

And then there is the legendary Battle of Olustee. Not really a race, but lots of fun.

Couldn't wait. We watched tonight.

I have seen seen this movie a dozen times but every time I think Dave is going to leave it too late to come around. But he never does.
