52 and windy is cold? HTFU, leg warmers don't come out until it's under 40.

I got in 2h of z2, 15' of z3, and 5' z4 the other day. Legs are starting to come back, but I still have a lot of work to do. Total time: 2:20, 33mi, 3100'.

Your knees would probably prefer you not just HTFU. Knee warmers are important for protecting the exposed knee joint.

I have old knees so I adhere to the venerable roadie wisdom to cover them at any temperature below 65F. So far, so good.

this. not wearing leg/knee warmers when it's cold isn't "hard" it's just stupid.

When I lived in SoCal I didn't even ride when it was below 60 degrees...

I read a study a few years ago that showed cycling under 60 degree weather without knee warmers was really really damaging to the riders knees. I'm not sure how accurate this. I see riders in the tours riding in super cold conditions with no leg warmers.

Thoughts on this guys?

No, I'm so hot. Which is why I just end up taking knee/leg warmers off when it starts to get too much above 40-45*F.

I've got about 22 years (120K-150K miles?) with ~55F being my threshold for bare knees. Knee health has not changed in that timeframe, aside from acute injury.

Sprint workout, felt really good on the new bike. Finally getting used to it and feel very comfortable. Still don't quite have shifting down to second nature like I did with Shimano(riding SRAM now), but it's getting there. The bike definitely feels a LOT stiffer than my old bike.
Focused a lot on spinning faster while applying force instead of just thinking about pushing down harder. Thought "circles".

Was trying to hit break my 5s PR but couldn't quite get it...at least I broke my max power PR.

Max: 1419 W
5s: 1276 W
10s: 1166 W

No local races this weekend so I'm going to hit up a large group ride with the team over the weekend, can't wait to see how comfortable the bike is.

You want a new set of wheels. That bike is plenty fine for Cat5. Cat4, Cat3, even Cat2. Just as it is.

I already expect to be a 4 for at least through next season. Would I like to do it faster? Yes, but I would like to do it at a normal pace while still enjoying cycling. I spent most of my time in the winter focusing on losing weight and putting in base mileage. Went down from 196 to 168, feeling way better and just as strong.

1-1-2-5-2-1-1 intervals are really hard when you do 1 minute rest instead of 5 minutes. I confused my ZCI from yesterday with pyramids. Halfway through the first two minute one I could barely maintain threshold, got part way into the 5 minute, feeling awful, and realized I'm an idiot.

Finished pretty well considering. Legs are actually responding.
