I do time as well though that isn't perfect either since riding with my wife could be 2 hours at a non fitness pace. Lately what I've been leaning towards is using TSS. The miles are just the easiest to find and compare.

Me too. I have 4350, which even daily commuters find to be huge, but a pittance here.

1750 miles this year which seemed like a lot as I'm pretty new to this sport but then I come on here and you guys bike more than I drive in a year. I have 100 hours on the bike this year. I wonder what's going to come first, replacing the chain or replacing my bike.
I'm frustrated that I moved this weekend to a place that doesn't have good roads within 7 or 8 miles of my apartment so I haven't ridden recently and probably won't race a crit this weekend.

One more race this season for me near the end of September. Training will be tapering off quite a bit starting this week as I need to wrap up some school related items I'd been putting off since Spring (in favor of bikes). I'm watching all those around me gear up for cross and I am not letting myself try it out since I know I'd keep putting off school stuff (finishing thesis). Should start picking up real training again in early December. Will still get rides in here and there and will start communiting to work.
End of year riding will be somewhere around 6,000 miles.

So I had to check, my accident was on July 10 and I had 5500 miles so roughly on track for 10,500. I can count on one hand how many people I know who ride as much, one who rides more but that's not counting this forum.
You people have really good work schedule, patient wives, no kids, or all of the above.

I don't care about miles, only the training quality...but lately I've been starring at miles.
Rode to the gym and did some presses/leg extensions to strength the weak muscles. I've made big progress from 3 weeks ago. Up to 40lbs on the leg extension and 60-80lbs on the leg press. I started at 10 lbs and 30 lbs, respectively, 3 weeks ago.
Today is gym time, tomorrow I might do some actual riding. I've kept my leg elevated to keep the TFL stretched, it feels good.
Looks like my goal of getting back to 100% by November(my birthday) is gonna be hard. I am at like 70% at best right now(when the leg doesnt hurt).

i'm at like 6,900 for the year according to strava but i estimate mileage for indoor workouts so take that with a grain of salt.

@ovoleg I actually just felt glad I broke a bakers dozen vertebrae instead of a leg injury.
I am really battling with muscle imbalances and weak muscles in the bad leg right now. Otherwise I think my leg is okay(for now )

I feel like that's a normal part of recovery. Last week I felt like I was ready to play football, woke up the next morning feeling like death.

Training status:
Since the injury, and ride by itself feels fine - I feel just as strong as before. But endurance over a few days not so much.
Before, I was up to 2 fast group rides + intervals on Tuesday (~100 miles including commutes), a long ride with lots of threshold climbing on Wednesday (50-70 miles), and a practice crit on Thursday.
Now I just did the 2 group rides yesterday but no intervals, and the "threshold" climbs today ended up at around 90% (RPE 100%). I couldn't even get motivated to climb hard for the first few minutes of each climb.
Need some R&R.

4643 miles for me so far this year. Not going to come near the 8204 I did last year. I might need to retire again.

Question for you powermeter owning mofowkas, and smart people in general.
I'm really interested in the torque readings in my power files, and how they correspond to rpm & gradient. It appears that the lower the RPM the higher the torque at a given power, and the flatter the gradient, the lower the torque for a given power. I'm not entirely sure what the hell this means though, but an educated guess would be that the higher the torque the more work your muscles are doing per crank rotation and therefore the more stress your muscles are put under.
Basically I'm trying to figure out if I should get a compact for stupid steep crap so I don't thrash my legs doing 40RPM wondering why I'm cracking going up devil's kitchen and other similarly mountain goatey terrain.
Cheers.
