I assume it's fine. I had 3 minutes to go and I didn't look back.

Turkeys are sparse here, but we've got a bunch of buzzards. Thankfully, they move when I'm within about 20 meters, and resume their meal of roadkill after I've passed.

Over here I'm feeling more and more optimistic about my prospects to put in a legitimate base, starting in October. I have been having back issues since mid-late July due to overuse injuries.

On Labor Day I put in a solid 1.75 hr z2+ ride, and really let it rip into z5+ for a couple 3-5min sections, including some sprints. Today I woke up with almost no symptoms whatsoever.

My plan for the rest of the week:

T(today): upper body lifting - gym
W AM: light lower and core lifting at gym
W PM: 1hr z1/2 ride
ThAM: Ab workout
ThPM: 30min swim at gym
F: 1hr z3/4 ride at lunch
S or Sun: 2-2.5 hr ride

baby steps....

Walked 2.4 miles today around the neighborhood, and a month ago I could hardly walk for 100 feet. Things are coming together. Next week I start interval walking lol

Been putting in some pretty good work just in time for not racing I felt like I was on the verge of a big jump in my power numbers but my training really didn't call for a 20 minute effort. It didn't last night so I think I can still hit a few more watts.

2013 (Dec)
232
3.11 w/kg

2014 (Feb and Aug)
255
3.66 w/kg

Tonight
272
3.98 w/kg

Still got a lot of work to do, my 5s and 1m stuff still needs improvement. I've cleaned up my positioning and I can get in a CDR position with a pretty flat back. One of things I do to practice is to try touching my garmin with my nose. It helps a lot both with speed and watt savings (though admittedly I ride higher when in the middle of a pack to see what's going on).

Last night in the TNW's at the start we have a short .3 mile hill that is the initial surge and sorts things out. Since my 1m power is meh, I always get dropped there, and get stronger up the hill. From a power perspective its good, from a race perspective its bad as I end up in between the fast guys and slow guys with no wheels to surf. Tonight getting dropped was more about picking the wrong wheel and noticing too late that he couldn't keep up.

crossed 10k mile for the year today.

am "tired".

easy week, no racing next weekend, then another easy-ish week. Still trying to figure out if EC is happening.

Congratulations, that's a big number (200+ miles per week). 10k was one of my beginning of the year training goals but I quickly learned my body can't handle that volume and improve at the same time.

If I were you I would go, but it is a race in the middle of nowhere (albeit an epic race), so I'm sure you have to weigh other factors as well.

Off season has begun. Taking the bike into the shop to replace a bunch of worn parts and getting new bar tape and brake pads.

Running a bit with the wife and have started hitting up the local gym.

Enjoying my off season. Beer, TV/Movies, getting to know the couch better and eating ice cream than I really should be. Although I do look forward to starting back up for next year

4600 ish up to now, 1300 of which probably commuting; that leaves me 3300.

still have a few PRs to set, and still would like to train, but humidity really gets to me and i just can't be bothered with training in heat & humidity

That's what I'm at as well, 4600. Which in a normal world would be a lot, but in the bizzarro world of the 33, its amateur hour. The important thing is progression, which according to my ewang chart above, is happening.
