I count the number of times I pedal, and that's usually a pretty consistent indication of time, if I do each interval the same.

Just make sure you count both feet, or you'll tend to hit the counting leg harder.

This is true. Also, if you look at your legs you can make more power. Proprioception for the wins.

I can't count for one minute all out. Way too much pain. And the faster breathing throws off counting as well.

You folks are weird.

I'm not sure why I've never considered a graph that goes up. I read about it in Training with Power, then never saw it, and dismissed it, I guess.
In NorCa, where both fudgy and I are from, 20 minute hills are our bread and butter. Its the safest, best place to ride hard in a city full of crazy drivers and busy traffic. I think this brings out the TT/climber types into the racing scene more than other parts of the country. My profile is incredibly lopsided - 5s/1m/5m/20m - 925/559/395/344.

Pretty fat. 156.

We've actually ridden together once (A-ride to HMB) and know some of the same people (Alexander, Lucas). I'm also on the noon ride occasionally.

Really wanted to get out today, but rain was just awful, so Trainer it is. I had the time, so why not Sufferfest ISLAGIATT. Best Cycling Training Video Ever.

2:00
253W NP
1,639kJ
131 TSS
81% Intensity

Still can't do it at 100% of the prescribed intensity... set Trainer Road to 90% for the first 3 intervals and 100% for the last 7min interval.

Yeah, I'm not surprised. Those are good numbers. What's your OLH, like 17:30?

Say hello next time. I'm terrible with faces!

I haven't tested OLH in a while because I wanted a full 20 minutes for tests so I've been doing 20 minute tests on Kings. I need to go out and give it another shot... my PR is like 18:20 but that is from back in July, the math says I should do 17:XX.

I hope everyone has a great weekend of training and racing. I'm heading down to Southern AZ for a road race. We finally got our share of bad weather here, it's pouring right now but should be cleared up for the race tomorrow. I'm not sure which race I'm doing...my choices are Masters Women (combined with Cat4), Cat 4 men or Masters men. I'll decide race morning. My goal is not to flat or crash on the crappy pavement!

3 hours on the trainer alternating 70% and 80% of ftp. I'm pretty tired.

It appears that it will take a little longer to recover from a cold than I had hoped. Per Friel's advice on missed workouts, I will probably be re-starting Base 3 next week (I have basically missed two weeks of training). If next week goes well, the week after I will start back on build.

Today it was an hour of Z2, same thing planned tomorrow. On a positive note, just to keep myself entertained on the rollers I have been working on riding more in the drops - 35 minutes out of the hour today. I have also discovered that I am able to maintain a higher cadence and higher power out of the saddle when I am in the drops than when I am on the hoods.

Had a bit of excitement on the rollers yesterday. I was trying to pick up my cadence riding out of the saddle with my hands on the hoods, and my front wheel went off the end of the rollers. Somehow I was able to just pull it back up, it happened so quickly that it was over before I knew what was going on, but I was able to respond quickly enough to stay rolling.

1:45 on the rollers this morning/afternoon. Started with 10 min z3 followed by 5 min z4, then 9 min z3, 6 min z4, and swapped a minute each time until the last 5 min z3 and 10 min z4. So that put me near 45 in both 3 and 4. Need to look at the file though and see for sure. That last 10 minutes was tough, but the BBC Sherlock Holmes is a damn good show.

Four hours in the rain. Outside of being near hypothermic the only bad thing was having to descend on the shoulder in a few inches of water, since I'm either too cowardly or smart to get in the lane with cars going 70+ during a downpour.

^ gnar. I'm headed out for 3-3.5 hr shortly. The plan is 3hrs of z2, with the potential of throwing in a 20' in mid z4 on Fiesta Island if the weather isn't too bad and I feel like it. We'll see.

2.5 hours on the rollers.

It's so easy to maintain the same power! I did leave a ton of sweat everywhere though...

Tomorrow I do battle.

10x1 @ 500w with 2 minutes rest between. Did not succeed in hitting that power for most of them.

Strategic error: huevos rancheros for brunch prior to the ride. Had to stop during interval #7 for a puke suppression break. Stopped right in front of a guy taking in his garbage cans, who looked like he was thinking about calling the cops on me. Did 5 more intervals as redemption.
