Fortunately it ended up being a very minor accident. Traffic had stopped, and just start moving. I was rolling, maybe 5mph. Heard and saw in my rear view mirror a car behind me in my lane locking up brakes and sliding toward me at highway speed.

I had room in front of me, as traffic was starting to move, floored it, and almost outran her. She slid to my right, and the only damage was a tiny amount to the rear fender and rear wheel. An inch further right and she misses me entirely.

i wasn't offended, just tweaking you. like somehow bad taste in music is gender related?

Tom Waits is awesome, I think i first heard him in the movie Down by Law - in the 80's.

Certainly wasn't trying to offend anyone.

Your life could be worse @merlinextraligh. Go to a grocery store in the poor part of town on the first of the month, and just watch the cashier at the quick express line. The stuff they have to deal with is medieval.

Just don't go with a tie on, because every 5th person in line will be short on cash, and the whole store will stop and look at you in hope you'll pay the difference.

@furiousferret where in God's name do you live, I'm in a huge city and I work closely with the poverty class - my office is even in one of the poorest areas, and I've never experienced this type of thing. I've heard the references many times in East coast and Midwest cities, but I guess phosphate just doesn't have that extreme poverty. Just a huge swath of mediocre poverty!

Good morning, Mr snip, snip, snip, get your haircut just as short as mine....

I like a lot of his music, but some of it is pretty weird.

TKP, lol at Kermit with emphysema.

Okay so I see that if I want to just ride in the RR this weekend, as a part of a two stage omnium, it is $100. Umm, am I out of line in thinking that is a lot of money??

I feel better enough today, after my bout of flu, that I was going to race, but now I am second guessing this. Along with it being stuperbowl sunday the number of entrants is very low.

You can't register for just the rr? That's an interesting decision, was one of my favorites last year but I wouldn't shell out $100 for it. Also last year I got home five minutes after kick off.

I was kind of afraid to say that's sort of my impression of most of his stuff. At least his more recent stuff that I've heard.

I work in San Bernardino, in that seedy area every town like this has. I'm trying to recollect if I'm exaggerating this at all, and no I'm not.

I drive a 15 year old Honda. My mother in law is staying in our tiny apartment this week so I'm taking her car to work. New supercharged Audi. I can't believe they sell these cars to the public. Who the hell needs a sedan that does 0 to 60 in 4.8 seconds? I mean, I appreciate it and laugh hysterically when I press the go pedal, and I like the heated steering wheel and random features, but I'd rather have many, many nice bikes instead of a nice car. Traffic still makes my commute the exact same time in any car. It's just slightly more relaxing in a moving bank vault.

Yeah, this was a trustee for the university and his son that goes there. Dude has donated 10's of millions of dollars to the school and it was bizarre. My state school is ranked better. I'd go to UMass over Miami in a heartbeat.

just say that you came from your parole check in.

just kidding. We aren't class-ist against poor people. Understand the system is designed to commodify their existences in ways where it's beneficial to keep poor people poor.

I shop at one of those places regularly as it's convenient and my bill at check out is usually about half of what it would be at Safeway. I don't go from the 1st-5th, not because people ask for money, but people load up carts with $300 of crappy prepackaged and frozen foods and take 10 minutes each at check out. Some of the garbage people buy is impressive. Cookies, frozen burritos, cereal, and milk is 90% of the purchases during that time of the month. Crazy

0-60 in 3.6 seconds kept me from getting plastered last night.

Admittedly its a fairly rare circumstance. But if I were in an economy car, I'd be looking at a likely totalled car, and personal injury.

I don't know what my car's 0-60 is but it does a quarter mile in about 13 seconds flat, and I often think that's not fast enough.
