Late last month, I had an initial interview for a new job. It was with the HR person. After our interview, she said she wanted me to talk with the hiring manager and asked when I was available over the next week. I gave her some times. She said she'd get back to me.
I heard nothing.
A week and a half later, I called her back and left a voicemail saying I was still interested and hoped they were too. I still heard nothing.
Then yesterday, I noticed on their employment site that I was no longer being considered for the position.
Why tell me you wanted me to talk with the hiring manager if you weren't going to respond? Just say "Thank you, we are impressed by your credentials and if we want to talk with your further, we will get back to you?"
And in other news, I bought another SRM for my backup bike. I've been racing the backup bike more lately, I don't really know why, and I want power on it. I got it used and fairly cheap. It is only the spider for my Hollowgram cranks, which is part of the reason it was fairly affordable.

Good luck on the continued hunt.

this may belong in racer tech thread, but i think i may just have salvaged a good portion of my security deposit. I got some bike grease on my shorts earlier today, and my normal trick of using limonene (any orange scented cleaner) with alcohol wasn't cutting it. I recall people saying that you can remove stain by using a toothbrush and thought i could give GoJo (pumice soap) a try. That worked. Next target, my carpet, mottled with so many black and gray spots from my chain. It also seems to work pretty well using limonene, GoJo, and a toothbrush.
I think i know what i'll be doing for quite a bit of Memorial Day Weekend as my carpet has more spots than I can count...

you have to use a hydrocarbon based solvent. Limonene (citrus stuff) seems to work the best. None of this stuff is good for you, btw, and right now i'm ventilating my studio to get the smell out
As for results, i didn't take before and after, but here are comparison photos. You can still tell there's some marking, but it's quite a bit less perceptable. I'm thinking of getting a ginormous brush and just brush the hell of it some more.

Probably not a good idea to try on carpeting, but vegetable oil works great to get grease off your hands. It dissolves the grease, then plain soap to wash. No nasty stuff needed. Works on oil based paint too.

I've been doing this forever to get grease off my hands. Many years ago, a friend was moving out of a rental and was worried about a grease spot on a hardwood floor. I recommended trying vegetable oil. The vegetable oil completely ruined the floor and she lost her deposit. So, don't do that.

I just wouldn't bother cleaning it - even if you do you probably wont get your deposit back anyways.
Two rental places ago my mother and I worked for hours cleaning, got the carpets professionally shampooed, and I got back about 30% of the deposit (which I gave to my mom).
The last place I said **** that and just left the place filthy. Told the landlord to spend the deposit on cleaners. The easy move and reduced exposure to dirt and chemicals was totally worth the $500 I lost.
Now I own so I take much better care of the place.

The only problem with it, is that also cleans the rest of the carpet. So for a light colored carpet like you have, you will have some spots that are definitely brighter/cleaner that the area around it.

I use Spot Shot (orange/blue can). I buy it by the case as it's good for cat things too, plus we sold it where I worked (and they still treat me like I never left there).
I use a big brush shaped like the iron in Monopoly. It's about 5-6" long, maybe 3" wide. I've bought a few over the years, they rest in strategic spots (under kitchen sink, in wash room, in a different bathroom).

I'm considering a job that requires working on Saturdays. To my own surprise I thought that it would be totally acceptable. No word on anything so no job at this point, but the idea that I'd be good working on a Saturday really surprised me. Previously it was a deal killer, not sure what happened to change that.
I'd also lose Tues Night racing and that also, surprisingly, didn't bother me much, although I'd try to get that back if possible. If I couldn't race Tues again though I'd be okay with it. This realization really surprised me.
I'd still have Sundays and I'd still plan on racing, it'd just be not quite as often.
I have to check but as a side benefit I may have found a loop near the place. Looks like such a dead end loop that I'm not even sure the whole thing is paved. I'll have to drive around the thing one day.

I use stuff called "Greased Lightning." You can buy it at most hardware stores. It does a great job of getting the grease spots out of carpet.

"Considering" sounds like the ball is entirely in your court, so, congratulations?

Well, no official offer so it's sort of like me being in the field at the bell lap. Things look good but anything can happen. So not yet.
