I went with a SRAM trigger shifter for my Birdy (Sachs 3x8 dualdrive) .. that made a big difference in shifting preciseness .. I left the left side 3spd gripshifter as it works fine.... you probably have the Shimano Intego system, so, assuming you have a twist grip for the derailleur, there might be something you can do for improvement with a replacement to a trigger shifter.. the high spoke count rear wheel for the 3x8 hub will limit your choices that would make a big difference in weight .. the 24h front is already reasonably light.. if the money was burning a hole, you could build up a very lightweight, low spoke count wheel set without the dualdrive and mount Stelvios, and see a noticeable difference in acceleration and feel.. if it were me, I'd leave the Touring alone as it is, and buy a Xootr to mod ...
