Chilling Craigslist brag.

https://www.10tv.com/content/stories/...community.html

Today on the Columbus Craigslist some posted a message bragging about hitting a cyclist.

Probably a troll but still make me want to kick the idiot in the jewels.

Columbus, OH, does NOT have the best rep for bike-friendly atmosphere; there was a VERY controversial hit & run there last year, IIRC. A leading local bike advocate was taken out by a drunk (I think), and the cyclist was left for dead IN THE STREET. (I HOPE I'm remembering the details correctly....)

OF COURSE, the idiot didn't respond to the media; too much like 'turning himself in'.

Better that than meeting up with the wrong friend/family member, though................

You're going to need good aim to hit this piece of work's jewels. They are likely close to nonexistent, and hopefully the incident is just as much not a part of the reality-based world.

The internet is an incredibly valuable thing in many ways, but one of the downsides is the cloak of real or perceived anonymity that allows morons to stir things up for their perverse pleasures. The author says he wants a "man to man". If so, please post your name, number, address ... or maybe just crawl back where you came from.

It is incidents' like these, that are why, I 'take the lane'. Because I won't stand for some intolerant motorist wanting me out of their way, just so they can continue to be stupid.

Sometimes there special divisions in police departments which look into & handle things like this. I would hope someone in the local community alerted cops in that division to have a look and cite this person.

Sucks to know different areas treat cyclists differently. Here in SF, I've never had any bad encounters with drivers.

Hmmm... somewhere there is a record of the IP the message was sent from.
Unless the poster was using anonymous IP forwarding, the IP can reveal his physical location, access provider, and possibly the computer/phone used.

I bet the NSA knows where the guy is!

I'll bet the NSA could not care less about a local traffic hit and run. Columbus police should be very interested though.

The only reason the NSA didn't care was because whoever posted that message on Craigslist wasn't using Tor.

The police did not have any reports of any incidents that were similar to what the poster stated. There was also a later post claiming to be from the same guy that said he made it up. Columbus is actually getting much better in regards to bicycle awareness, through some very hard work of local advocacy groups and the Mayors office.
