Speaking of stupidity, some feckin eejit tried to hold up a gun shop in Auckland yesterday with a machete and got shot by the one of the store owners for his trouble.

I guess this will be my last post for a while since I fully expect the server to melt-down any second!
Maybe floyd just splashed on too much of that dodgy "mennonite" aftershave we were plugging?

Well since floyds miracle bonk recovery and tour win with a gammy hip have gone bye-bye.....
At least we have 7 little Lance miracles remaining...well ok 6 if you believe the 1999 allegations

FWIW, I'm actually a Lance fan, probably because I'm late to road racing and dont really remember watching any of the previous stars.
Thats what happens when you grow up in Glasgow and are brainwashed with sectarian football culture!

I'm about to order some XT cranks probably from Torpedo7 although they dont list if it includes the external BB shell thingy...? hmmmm will need to check.
I really want XTR but you've put me off with the whole BCD thing. Middleburn make an adapter but

They list a build kit including dual control shifters, discs and reare de-rail, dont suppose you're on the look-out for anything?

Yep it does include BB, but no tools. So order the rool that undoes the BB and the endcap from the non-drive crank arm.

I just ordered a set for my mate this week from t7

Hmm not at the moment. i picked myself up a slightly used current model XTR rear derail the other day for 50 bucks. stoked. My bikes Full XT (XTR rear) and i love it. im interested to see the new XTR dual control as they really raved about them on the cycling news review.

Photoshop Jock.....it's called Photoshop.

cyclingnews is cash-for-comment. I wouldn't believe anything you read on there. What was the last thing you saw that got anything less than a 4 jerseys out of 5? And what happened to doing the 26er vs 29er test? Haven't heard anything about that since they started it. In the interim I did a quick calculation on approach angle. When hitting a 2" square bump, the advantage of a 29er over a 26er is approximately....wait for it.....1.8%.

I think that's indicative of why the tests haven't been coming thick and fast.

The new XTR looks okay. Hate to think how much the middle chainring is or the whole group for that matter, but XO is so expensive it probably doesn't matter.

For my money, XT or X9 are the way to go. Especially next time you rip your rear derailleur off.

From this weeks RBR

After winning the Tour, Floyd Landis commented on his upbringing:

"The way I grew up was a bit more simple than the way I live now. I don't pretend to know a lot about what's going on in life most of the time. But I had good parents who taught me that hard work and patience were some of the most important things in getting what you wanted. It took me a long time in my life to learn patience. But that and persistence, I think, is the lesson that even I learned from this race."

Alluding to doping in cycling, he added, "I think it's up to every child's parents to explain to them while they're watching the race what the best decisions in life are about. That's the way my parents raised me, and I think that's not a bad way to do it."

He's an oracle

If you have X9 you hve probably experienced this more than once! ive never seen RD's self implode like that X9 Rubbish. the shifters also feel cheap and nasty /rant

IMHO for XC you cant beat shimano rapid rise with dual control. i was very sus of it when i 1st heard about it but riding it is just sublime. for all the bad press it copped, there must have been a lot of HUXRZ that thought they would give it a go. either that or the campy elite finally found somthing else to nail on shimano.

for downhill however, somthing like traditional rapid fire or SRAM would probably be the way to go.

Id be surprised if the XTR is any mroe than it currently is. they are trying to get back market share, and they cant do that with higher prices.

I love how so many of the comments on the Ladis threads are "it must be a false positive"...."we need to wait for the B sample" etc but Landis himself has said that he doesn't hold much hope on thee B sample showing any different

Goorrrnnn!!

Yeah it's not necessarily a bad thing. But when yer dads heart blows itself to pieces at 39 then there's some bad signs there. But yeah like you say it's all about the ratios. I had a reading of 5.8 a couple of years ago and my doctor went through the roof. Mainly cause that was mostly made up of the mad stuff.

What's these E things? Just different levels of effort within the warmup. That's very interesting though. Thanks for that. Any idea of the time spent in each of the E's?
