Beach Cruisers Do you love balloon tires and fenders? Do you love riding the simplicity of a single gear and coaster brakes or a single gear cluster? Do you love the classic curves in the tubing of a cruiser that takes you back to the 1950's and 1960's, stylistically? Here's your home! Welcome to the Beach Cruisers and Cruisers forum!

Project Schwinn Windwood

Hi everyone,

I am new to the forums, from the Jersey Shore, Seaside Park actually and cruisers have always been my prefered method of transportation. So anyways I came across a Schwinn Windwood for sale in town this weekend and decided to buy it for $45...not bad The fenders are a little rusty and the wheels are a little beat. So I already decided to strip the fenders off and give it more of a raw look. I would like to get some new wheels but don't know where to purchase so any suggestions would be great?! I want to break it down sand and paint the frame eventually but I'm gonna start with some simple things first.

I'll get some pictures and post progress as I go, here is a stock photo of the bike.

I had a windwood that has undergone a few different small modifications, springer front fork, non fender clunker, finally gave it to one of my sons to keep at his place in old town.

I usually try to get parts from my local bike shop, but in some cases I have ordered over the net from Chubby's Cruisers.

Cheers,
