That actually looks pretty bad I woulden't trust it. If it was an old steel frame maybe but not aluminum.

My thoughts exactly. I'd pass on it.

No, even for the basic fact that geometry will be off, maybe giving twitchy handling.

Front impacts can have two bad results even if the tubes aren't obviously cracked or buckled. First, the headtube angle will have changed and that will alter the handling. Second, it can ovalized the headtube so the headset won't fit properly and the steering itself can be uneven. Pass.

I had an aluminum frame that got bent when a car pulled out in front of me. I continued to use it - on my trainer during the winter.

I wouldn't ride that frame on the road or trails. Shame as it looks like it was a very nice frame.

Why start with a bad frame ? It makes no sense to me why anyone would even consider that unless it was something really really special which this frame is not.

Excellent suggestion. I always recommend that every rider who is willing to put time on an indoor trainer (winter or otherwise) have a dedicated trainer bike. First it saves wear and tear on your good bike and, second, it's always set up and ready to use so you don't have to switch a bike on and off the trainer each time.

A proper size but not roadworthy frame is the perfect candidate. None of the other components have to be high line and your parts box is the perfect source for them. The bars have to be in the proper relationship to the pedals and saddle and the saddle has to be suitable but nothing else matters.

Pictures not visible.

In general, bent aluminum frames are retired, not fixed like (some) bent steel frames. The material is different, aluminum is much less suitable for bending and rebending.

Buying and then adding a Gusset, welded on, is poor economy ... just buy a New Frame no one has ridden yet.

Only way I would take that frame is if the owner *payed* me to take it.

Why is the owner trying to sell a damaged frame ?

If I had that dent on a bike I already owned, I'd continue to ride it. I wouldn't buy a damaged frame.

Get a long cheater bar and bend it back. I wouldn't pay for that frame but I'd love to take a shot at straightening it. Haha

Brad
That is not just a dent;
The frame is bent, causing a change in head tube angle and steering geometry.

Ofer to buy it for the value of the components, then use them to build up a new frame.

Based on the pictures, it's just a bare frame and there are no components at all.
