Best all-around chain tool?
Hi!
What do you think the best all-around (meaning it can work well on a variety of chains and not just on the tiny 11 speed ones) chain tool is?
I thought about Park Tool CT 3.2: Chain Tool - Park Tool but it is a bit pricey.
I work mainly on low end bikes (MTB, cruisers, old racers, etc), anything from 5 to 8-9 speeds (have actually never seen a 10 or 11 speed from up close ) and need the tool maybe 3-4 times per month.
What would you suggest? Is there anything less pricey than CT 3.2, but still fitting my needs?
Cheers!

Good tools are expensive, but IMHO you get what you pay for. I have have had a Park CT-3 for the better part of 20 years and it still works perfect. In that same time I have went through three cheap cable cutters.

+1 I have had my Felco C7 and smaller C3 cable cutters for decades and they are as good as new.

using the above link I found this specialty additional tool Rivet Peening Tool for CampagnoloŽ 11-Speed Chain - Park Tool
since nobody around here has the money to spend on Campag 11 speed groups , Not that needed.
But peening pins will spread the ends out, to fill the holes in side plates that had to stretch
to let the chain come apart in the length adjusting process. .

"Splurge" on the Park and never look back. A favorite saying is "only a rich man can afford cheap tools."

I did a project for the Sprocket app where I got a bucket of chain from my LBS and chainbroke ~300 chain stars as holiday ornaments I hung on bikes. The big ParkTool chainbreaker with handle was awesome. I dont know what I would have done without it.
