Bottom bracket bearing removal on a giant upload SE.
Hey guys.
Long time reader but never quite posted so here is a first.
Ok I know what you guys are thinking. Wtf am I doing not searching first ?!
Well I did and nobody seems to have had the same problem . I've removed cranks and a very screwed in pieces bearing of a uploaded SE I'm rebuilding up. And after removing all the bits and ball bearings from inside the tube crank area I found one last tough bit. See photos attached. I was taking out the whole thing to replace it with a shimano sealed bearing but I can't because that cover on one side I just can't managed to get out no matter how hard i try to turn or hammer with a flathead to make it turn or move. I've left it soaking in CRC over night. Any ideas ? Special tools ? Thanks guys

That's the non-drive side cup and is standard right-hand threaded (turn counterclockwise to remove). Try using a large adjustable wrench to clamp the raised flats on the cup to turn it. Use a long bolt , two large washers and a nut to clamp the wrench in place so it can't slip under the needed torque. Replace the drive side cup temporarily to protect the threads and shell face on that side when you clamp the wrench.

Hillrider's method should work.

Thanks so much guys, really really appreciate your efforts and efficiency! I'll give it a try with hillriders method before going to buy the tool as I suspect it's probably a one off per year for me type of thing!

Another tool that can work on that style cup (if it's not stuck too tight) is a 16mm cone wrench, which you may already have if you work on your own hubs.

I do have a 16mm cone wrench, but the 2 lift parts of the cup is inside the crank shell so i can't really get full contact to turn with enough torque.

Scroll down the article to the "Fixed-Cup Tools" section and realize you have to use this to remove a right-hand threaded cup, not the more common left-hand threaded fixed cup. The direction tell how to do this.
