new chain, stiff link.
I am trying to add a link to the chain (I took off one too many) and each time I add it, that pin becomes stiff, every single time. Even when I connect the ends together that link is stiff too. I have tried about 10 times now, each time incrementing the pin through in 1/8ths of a turn trying to free it. But nothing seems to work. Any Advice?
Incidentally, the chain is an SRAM PC-48.

Grab the chain on either side of the stiff link and rock it back and forth at the bend, turning the area to 90 angle and flexing that way helps to.

Thanks, after much swearing it seems to have worked.
Incidentally, what is the difference between the two possible chain positions on the chain tool, I notice it is much harder to get the chain into the one closest the handle.

The second position is for loosening stiff links, but I prefer to use the method I mentioned.
