Wheel Upgrade Questions
Right now I'm sporting Mavic CPX 22 rims with Specialized hubs on a Tarmac Elite.
I'm thinking of upgrading to the standard Open Pro/Ultegra combo but will I notice any difference? Should I save my money until I can afford something nicer?
Also, I weigh around 150 in a hilly area, is a 28/36 setup the way to go? Some of the wheel builders online like BWW only sell a 32/32 config, while Colorado Cyclist lets you pick from 28-36.

What's wrong with CXP 22s?
What's so standard about Open Pro / Ultegra?
If you really want to upgrade why not:
1. CXP 33s
2. Moving from 14g to 14g /15g/14g or even to 15g like myself on the rear.
3. Moving from 14g to 15g or 15g/16g/15g on the front like myself.
4. 28/32 or 24/32
5. Carbon Kevlar Tires w/ Kevlar Bead in the 240-260g range assuming you have heavier tires.
There's lots you can do to bring down the centrifugal weight of your wheels for a performance gain without trying to be like Mike.
=8-)

It wouldn't be a huge upgrade (definitely not worth the cost), probably nothing on the weight saving end, but I like my open pro/ultegras (32/32). Very nice, very strong.

I'm also very happy with my ceramic Open Pro and Campy Record hubs. They roll true and fast with very little indication of flex. As a upgrade? Get them someplace cheap and real good (Colorado Cyclist?), and they might be sort of worth it. As a new flavor for your cycling pleasure - go for it!
