Finding A Headset

Hi all. Just joined the forum and hoping for some guidance.

I have acquired a carbon MTB (hardtail) frame off of eBay, but cannot identify its brand/type. It looks a bit like a Giant, but there are no decals or manufacturer's marks. I have attached some pics.

I am having trouble finding the correct headset for this frame, and am hoping that someone on this forum can help. The three bike shops I have visited so far have been no help.

The head tube inside diameter is 46mm and the outside diameter is 54mm. I believe the headtube bearing chamfer is 45 degrees. There is some glue residue inside the tube cup, so something had been fixed in their before I got it (presumably an internal headset).

Does anyone here have a clue what headset I would need? Let me know if you need more data.

Many thanks

You need a 1 1/8" integrated headset, any make will work as they are standard.

This statement couldn't be more wrong. There are 4-5 "standards" plus proprietary integrated headsets from different bike manfacturers. The Cane Creek guide should get you the info you need.

This is 100% incorrect. Most shops have the FSA headset measuring tool that tells you exactly what type of integrated headset it is - the majority of modern road bikes are 45/45 'campy' type.

The first link is almost too technical to be useful - the park link below is a much quicker pictorial overview that may be helpful

On my Giant road bike I have an AHEADSET Mfg by TR Industries for Crane Creek. Your frame looks like a giant because the giants typically have the very large head tube. Hope this helps.

Thank you all for taking the time to reply. I have made a couple of mistakes in acquiring 1 & 1/8 headsets from FSA & Cane Creek that weren't wide enough and have looked through a lot of online shop catalogues in my quest. Thanks to cyclist2000 for the heads-up on the Aheadset & tip on Giant bikes. I think this has pointed me in the right direction. Of course, if I do find the right headset, fitting it is another matter altogether, so I may be back on the forum later!

Thanks again for the help.
